I heard a few areas got winds over 136 mph (especially in Scotland and parts of Wales). That's incredible and well into F2 category.
Some massive destruction across northern Europe.
I am not sure this has ever happened before, at least not quite like this.
I can remember a similar storm in 2006 that did colossal damage to the PNW.
the storm at peak had winds of about 180-200Km/hr off Southern Vancouver Island (Sooke and Port Renfrew) and parts of Washington State.
There are extremely bad storms that tend to get completely missed because they don't affect England very much. i.e, we had a storm in January 2012 named Ulli, which completely ruined parts of Scotland, destroyed parts of my town including lifting caravans and uprooting an entire hillside of trees... hands down worst storm I have ever seen yet most people outside of Scotland haven't even heard of it. Generally speaking with the UK if it doesn't affect London no-one hears about it.
EDIT: just realised this was a bit of a necro... it was still well on the first page though.
