Now I grew up and lived half my life within minutes of San Francisco and love California but, Only in San Francisco would they be fighting for Marijuana legalizaton while at the same time banning sodas or surgary drinks for sale on city property. Yes you heard it right.... This from the city that bans the stupidest things like plastic bags...
"San Francsico has made good on its promise to ban sodas and other sugar-sweetened drinks from public-property vending machines, replacing them with diet drinks and soy milk."

I Mean.. SOY MILK!? ARE YOU F***ING kidding me!?

Oh and SF is also trying to outlaw the buying of pets. Yep, you wont be able to buy a cat, dog, etc... I'm SOOO glad I dont live in the Bay Area anymore, as I want to be as far away from those "Whack Jobs" as possible.

San Francisco hits nerves with pet sale ban idea
(AP) – 42 minutes ago
SAN FRANCISCO — The idea of banning pet sales in San Francisco started simply enough, with a proposal to outlaw puppy and kitten mills.
But the proposed ban on puppy and kitten mills became a proposed ban on the sale of just about every animal that might end up in a shelter: gerbils, guinea pigs, birds, hamsters, turtles, snakes, rats. Sales of rabbits and chicks are already banned in the city.
The idea led to the San Francisco Commission of Animal Control & Welfare's biggest, longest monthly meeting in recent memory, not to mention blogger fodder around the world.
The commission, overwhelmed with varying opinions, voted not to vote, tabling the debate until at least another month.

So sugar is bad, but aspartame is ok?!? Aspartame can have some pretty nasty side effects once too much builds up in the body - to this day one 12oz can would give me a crippling migraine. Yeah, I'm not seeing the logic there...

The manufacture of aspartame has changed the name to amino-sweet due to the neg rep aspartame has been getting.

Marijuana makes you crave sugar. Now we will have to obtain our soda from the underground black market. $65 for a can of Mountain Dew! Actually, NJ banned soda, energy drinks and candy from all vending machines on the properties of any K-12 schools that receive state funding (all public schools) and any private ones that want to retain their minimal funding dollars. That's probably a good thing considering that exercise is not as prevalent compared to growing up in the 70's. Anyone know where to score a cheap can of coke????? Bill

I lived in the People's Republic of California (Berkley area) for about a year. Talk about culture shock for a southern boy from Louisiana. I never did figure out the half a dozen recycle bins I had to put out. I think one of them was for dogshit... not sure. I remember when I first got there I stopped in a coffee shop on the way to work. Do you know they didn't have brewed coffee? I didn't want a fat free, sugar free, caffeine free, taste free, double soy, kale flavored, dauphin safe latte. I wanted a cup of strong black coffee. Yes, I passed on the vegan muffin, too. :wtf:
