I've noticed that many people here seem to like lasers and flashlights, so let this be the official flashlight discussion thread ... post pictures of your flashlights, say which ones are your favorites..etc.

Right now my best flashlight is a mxdl modded with a q5, textured reflector, and I've covered the inside with glow in the dark epoxy so i can find it if the power goes out.

Also im hopefully getting this soon... http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11863 If it works right it should be putting out around 100 lumen's, all from a single aaa and under $15, in other word...AWESOME!!

SO how do you like the UV one? I'm about to order it now, along with Batteries, charger, and a drop in 200 lumen white light thingy (sorry I'm a total flashlight noob)

The UV one is ok but it might mess with your eyes and cause eye strain if you use it for an extended period of time. Read the reviews on dx and my post about it in the safety section.

I bought $50 worth of emitters from DX a while ago, and they are fun, but I have to say I like lasers better! The Q5 is really fun to mess with, you hit it with an amp and BAM, lotsolight!

I'm thinking about getting an fenix l2d premium q5, i need at least one good light.

Or i might just end up getting a 5d maglite since those are available locally and are alot cheaper, i also like the fact that it has 9hours of battery life on high.

Those HID lights are amazing ;D I have the 35W Sam's Club light and it is like a search light at night. Every bug in town comes for a visit

I know, but they stopped making the 5 and 6 "c" maglites which would be perfect.

Instead of the saying "walk slowly and carry a big stick" it should be "walk slowly and carry a maglite"

Yea I read that, which is what caused me to check out the UV light i the first place ;D I ordered it last night, along with a q5 drop-in, CR123a's and universal charger, and a multimeter for good measure.

There are some awesome flashlights out there! For me, it all comes down to SIZE vs brightness. Of course run time. Bulb life is an important consideration too. How about type of battery? Have you ever went to use a flashlight when you really needed one, just to find the batteries dead? Worse yet, they leaked inside?

* Size vs brightness.
* Good battery capacity. 4 to 5 hr. run time.
* That Cree Q5 should have a good long life.
* Plus, I like the use of the lithium batteries. 10 - 15 year shelf life!

That 700 lumen 21 mode solarforce that Razako mentioned looks pretty cool for the price...

Right now my favorite light of mine is my modded maglite modded with a welch-allen 1185 bulb, putting out about 1200 lumens out the front

I got the clock from here: http://www.amug.org/~jthomas/nixichron.html The creator makes them once and a great while and posts them on ebay. I was in contact with him asking if he planned to make any new ones and, by chance (or fate), he had just put on on eBay a few hours earlier.
