Default Re: The official flashlight discussion thread.

I just received the NiteCore Smart PD D10 1AA from the Fenix Store. *

Shipping is the usual fast 3 days to Socal.

My box was slightly crushed during shipping and the clear window showing the light on the box came off but who cares about the box just so long the light wasn't damaged.

Cost $54.28

I won't explain how to use the UI. There is an excellent video by 4sevens explaining the very easy UI IMO. *I like this the D10's UI over the Defender's UI. It's more easier to use.

You Tube Link.

Uses a Cree XRE Q5. My light has a very nice and white beam. The beam has slight ring around the hot spot but not as pronounced as the NiteCore Defender I have.

The D10 can use 1AA Alkalines or Lithium Rechargeable 14500's. My black AW"s Protected 14500 fit with no problems.

The finish is excellent. There is a very slight mis-match of the Type III Hard Anodize between the Lens Bezel Assembly and the Battery Tube. I give the grade A-. The Mis-match of the Type II Hard Anodize does not bother me.

I really like the knurling on the D10, has very good grip. The only drawback is no anti-roll feature.

The fit is excellent. Threads are smooth and the o-rings came lubed.

The rear clickie is on the hard side to push. It 's a Forward Clickie. It uses the Licensed PD Piston System from "McGizmo".

Comes with a lanyard, 2 o-rings, instructions and a Warranty Card.

Uses a Cree XRE Q5.

This is the Romisen Cree Q5 RC-N3 CR123 Or 2AA from Shining Beam.

Make sure you use the coupon code "CPFuser" to get 6% off everything.

Shipping was the usual very fast, 3 days to Socal.

The finish is excellent and I give the grade A. The finish is Type II Anodize Gray.

The fit is good. The threads are smooth. I give the grade A.

Uses a Cree Q5 which is noticeably brighter than the Cree P4 which I purchased at Deal Extreme for a cheaper price but no Q5 installed.

This RC-N3 Q5 looks exactly the same as the RC-N3 P4 except I purchased the Gray color.

Use a single stage forward clickie with GITD rear rubber switch cover.

Came shipped in this box.

Uses Cree Q5

Back of the Cree Q5 module. You can remove the module by inserting a pick or circlip pliers in the 2 slots and turning counter-clockwise to remove.

Default Re: The official flashlight discussion thread.

I just received the Elektro Lumens P7 2D 3C Maglite.

This is a 2D Maglite that is made to use 3C Batteries.

From the Elekto Lumens thread.

This is direct drive, optimum brightness from NIMH cells. The switch holder light post will be cut off, and wires soldered to switch and directly to the LED. Heat sink will be pressed in, and is not removable easily (removed with floor press). This is a permanently modded flashlight.

The bin number is 'B' or higher, that's what it will be. Might be 'C', but no guarantee.

Run time should be about 4 hours.

I measured 87F at the head, when the room temp was around 65F. Doesn't get hot. The sink I'm using is 1/2 inch thick.

Option #1: Mag 3D with P7 LED, $99.99 option not available any longer.

Option #2: Mag 3D with P7 LED, guaranteed 'C###' or better: $129.99 plus $6.60 shipping to USA, $14 for International (Global Priority Flat Rate Envelope)

Option #3: Mag 2D/3C (2D Maglite modified to use 3C cells) with P7 LED, guaranteed 'C###' or better: $139.99 plus $6.60 shipping to USA, $14 for International (Global Priority Flat Rate Envelope)

I installed an UCL Lens from Flashlight Lens.

The stock reflector is installed but the "tail" is cut off.

The beam is very white. The beam can be adjusted to remove the donut in the beam. The beam is not as smooth as the Malkoff 2-3D Drop In. I was very surprised how bright the beam was when I first turned the light on.

Current draw taken after the lux readings after 2 minutes. 2.92A

I got a lux reading of 14,600 @ 1 meter after 2 minutes. I used Radio Shack C Nimh Batteries 1.2V 4500mAh.

From the outside it look like an ordinary 2D Maglite.

This is the the P7.

The battery tube has an aluminum tube to hold the C batteries. The batteries do not rattle. Looks to be 1/4" thick.

This is the talicap. The inside looks machined out with the spring lower to accept the extra C cell battery.

Left, Elektro Lumens P7 2D 3C Maglite. * * Right, Maglite 3D Malkolf Drop-In

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These are the lux readings I got. I am using a Meterman LM631 Light Meter measured at 1 meter. I waited 2 minutes before taking the readings. Both lights had fully charged Radio Shack C & D Nimh Batteries 1.2V 4500mAh.

Elektro Lumens P7 2D 3C Maglite - 14,600 lux @ 1 meter

Maglite 3D Malkolf Drop-In - 12,580 lux @ 1 meter (Current Draw - 1.61A)

Maglite 3D MT-I, 3D Nimh Batteries - 4,130 lux @ 1 meter

Maglite 3D MT-III, 3D Nimh Batteries - 5900 lux @ 1 meter

Refer to for MT-I And MT-III

MT-I uses 1 SSC with 27mm reflector

MT-III uses 3 SSC'S with 3, 20mm Reflectors.

Maglite 3D Malkolf Drop-In @ 32'

Maglite 3D MT-I @ 32'

Maglite 3D MT-III @ 32'

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Malkoff Drop In uses a SSC P4

When the Elektro Lumens P7 2D 3C Maglite is set to "Wide Focus" you start to get the donut hole.

Default Re: The official flashlight discussion thread.

I received the Jet-Pro III IBS from Bugout Gear CPF Special. I received this light April 30,2008.

Shipping took 5 days. The Post Office mis-placed my package. I usually receive packages in 3 days form Bugout Gear.

The fits is excellent, I give the grade A. The threads are very smooth.

The Type III Hard Anodize is excellent, I give the grade A.

This is the first 18650 sized light from Jet Beam. AW's Protected Blue 18650 fits with no problems. Input voltage is 0.7-4.2V.

Uses a reverse clickie. The action is very good.

Has IBS or Infinite Brightness Setting. 3 levels of light. In each level the llight can be adjusted to high, medium, low, SOS and strobe. I have my light set to high, medium and low.

Uses a Cree XRE-7090 Q5. The hot spot on my light is slightly off center. The beam also has a ring around the hot spot. The reflector is slight OP. In the outer beam profile you can see the outlines of the indentations for the lens retaining ring a total of 6.

The lens is made of Sapphire Crystal with an orange o-ring under the lens.

The Jet-Pro III IBS has a lanyard ring which sits loosely between the battery tube and the rear tailcap. In time I can see the lanyard ring scratching the battery tube.

Uses a face up clip colored black.

Estimated output run times from Bugout Gear Website.

Output & Runtime:
18650 Rechargeable Lithium Battery:
Max Output: 225 Lumen, for 1.5 Hours
Default Mode A Output: 180 Lumen, for 135min
Default Mode B Output: 20 Lumen, for 24 hours
Min Output: 2 Lumen, for 150 hours

I think this is a very nice light for Jet Beam's first entry in the 18650 sized light.

The UI is very good because it has 3 levels and you can eliminate the "IMO" useless strobe and SOS.

I think Jet Beam always designs nice looking lights. The fit and finish is always top notch.

The drawbacks of the Jet-Pro III IBS are,

I rather have a lens bezel down clip.

The lanyard ring fits loose.

Reverse clickie.

My Q5 is slighty off center.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

This is how my box came slightly crushed.

Comes with a spare rear rubber boot cover and o-rings.

Comes with a lanyard.

Uses a Cree XRE-7090 Q5.

The indentations on the lens retaining ring can be seen in the outer edge of the beam.

Uses a spring to make contact with the +ve anode of the battery.

The clip can be removed from the battery tube very easily.

AW's Protected Blue 18650 fits with no problems.

Inside view of the rear tailcap.

I think im about to get the d10 from fenix-store, i really like how the output is fully adjustable, the mcgizmo pd system also looks nice, no more loud clicking noises. But mainly i think i am going to get it because of the very low low, 2 lumens sounds very nice.

If anyone else buys a flashlight i suggest to buy one from fenix-store, there service is just amazing, i ordered a e01 (also very nice) and even with the free shipping i got it in just 3 days, i was totally suprised.

...lazer.... ;D ;D ;D

I have this badboy here.
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12623 *
Was showing it around to the local law enforcement and they liked very much how bright the light was. *I have a Q5 as well (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10806)
comparetively the p7 is waaay brighter and I use rechargables in my q5 to maximize output. *I'll run out and take some pictures.
Honestly my camera sucks for shots like this. *IRL the output is easily 10x brighter.

here is one in comparison to a `100mw green laser.

These aren't all my lights. I have a lot more lights scattered through out my apartment.
