ok,
so almost everybody here knows i reside in Argentina (South america)

i've known newegg.com for quite a while, and their prices are soooo much better than ours (eg: an ATI 4850 is around 290 dollars, whereas you can buy it for around 160 dollars in newegg)

the sad thing is that they dont ship anywhere but to the US.

would it be possible to purchase an ATI 4850 (link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102770 ) and send it to a member of the forums (that i can trust :p) so he can re-send it to me (argentina)?
my question here would be: how much do you think i'll be paying for shipping to argentina?

thanks :)

UPS says shipping to Buenos Aires (since I don't know what city you're in :p) is $140 for a 14x8x3, 2lb package.

These are USPS (California to Argentina) for a 2 pound package

Priority Mail (6-10 days)  = $23.25
First Class (delivery varies) = $16.25

You might want to look for someone outside of California so you can avoid the 8.75% state tax

i've checked the website for USPS and i guesstimated the weight would be around 4 pounds (1,8X kg)

@daguin: if the package is shipped from newegg to california then i'll be charged with 8.75% tax? or is it because of the shipping to argentina?

my mission is to pay less than 270 dollars, which is the price the ATI 4850 is worth here in argentina.

Yes.  If someone that lives in California buys it, they will be charged state sales tax.  NewEgg is in California.  If someone outside California buys it, there is no state tax charged.  The shipping may be a little higher, but not 8.75% higher  :-/

At 4 pounds, the shipping Priority will be $30.75. It is $29.05 for first class. The extra $.80 is worth the guaranteed time and delivery confirmation that Priority give you.

Well, I've done a similar thing for anoter esteemed member here...

So, I'll do it. And no tax in OH for Newegg ;)

But, is your country strict on import taxes/fees? I'd hate to ship it to you and have you pay huge fees.

Ohh, thanks so much rkcstr I really appreciate the help :)

The problem is....yeah, taxes are 50% for electronic stuff (yeah as*holes want people to buy products from argentina, the problem is that argentina makes NOTHING. AT ALL)

BUT...i have "a guy" that can let me get it off for around 20% of the value (i could lie about the paid price).

I will think about it, make some calculations and when i finally get the money (I am selling my old 19' CRT screen and my not-so-old MSI 7900GT so i can buy the ATI 4850) i will contact you.

thanks a lot!! ;) ;) :D :D :D
