Hey, the school gave me this to try and find. They are the little screw standoffs you find next to VGA, serial ports etc on your computer, except this one appears to be a little longer than normal.

Tried everywhere locally, couldn't find anything, so though I'd ask here.

I have always found them in old pc boards ..... almost all the boards that have those "D" dype connectors have them, and sometimes they are shorter, sometimes are long like the ones in the pic.

Never found them in hardware stores, anyway, not here at least, so i save all the ones i find, when i find them.

Also from old, broken laptops you can find some of them (older ones have usually the longer ones)

So, probably some of your local PC stores or labs can have them around .....

hmm, do you know what it was used for before. Allot of adapters use those. Maybe try a DJ shop, or a DVI converter

They are used for almost all "D" type connectors (in some countries are called "D-SUB" connectors), panel mount versions ..... vga, serial, parallel, scsi, and so on.

They have a not-so-much standard threading, too (at least for European metric standards :p)

Things You can get these here in the U.S. at Fastenal. I don't thank they have a store in OZ, but the do have a website. I have never looked for the screws in Fastenal's catalog, but I was able to get some from their Brick & Mortar locations. If You can't find any I will be happy to pick some up here and post them to You.

Good Luck.

Hey I'm not sure what threading you need but check this site out: McMaster-Carr

I usually get most of my hardware off of these guys.
