Ok so this is not the Guess the mystery object game this is simply I want to know what these 3 things are.

Item1
Misteryobject_zps22607eff.jpg

My friend found this item a long time ago before we started High School. It looks to be made of silicon. He found it partially in the dirt by his house. The fragments made a complete ring its glass like.
It has this kind of surface texture to it only on the macroscopic level http://helasculpt.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/2/files/cosine-wild-torus/cosine-wild-torus.jpg

Item 2

I found this stuff by the railroad tracks a long time ago. Its appears to be red and white stuck together sand. With a glass like slag of sorts on top. It turns to sand very easily. some of it has backwards writing on it as if it was pressed against something
tHE layers are as follows
Red sand
white sand
glass like stuff
Black slag like stuff.

The last one almost looks like an aboriginal tap stick thingy :) And the second one looks like sandstone :) I would have to guess that the GLASS stuff is quartz.

Last one looks like a mortar to grind up spices pepper etc for cooking , but aboriginal in nature ...the other look well um like rocks ...except the one in the middle no idea

The first one looks like petrified wood, given those markings on the first photo. But if it's glassy, then not sure.

Second one looks like sandstone, perhaps not well pressed. And yes the glass is most likely quartz. Maybe there's something to do with train tracks layers or something?

Agree on the third item^

first one I have no idea maybe some form of ancient rock formed by nature or something.

Second item appears to be some sand insulation of a furnace. glass like layer and slag material forms at only very high temps.

last item is definitely made of phenolic. (search phenolic rod on google) Not hard enough to be used as a mortar for grinding stuff. Possibly a machined piece for something like a locking pin of sorts.

what it is it is man made. Its not quarts thats for sure its way to soft. Its not natural sand stone because it has square corners and letters pressed in.

PS I am adding more details to the original post

Its not petrified wood not even close. Think PURE silicon as in the element. Thats what it looks like. Its not natural that I am 100 percent sure of. It mad a perfect ring when it was found. this is the only peace i have a photo of.

2nd one, you say you found by railroad tracks. Very close to the tracks? It used to be they used thermite to weld railroad tracks out in the field. Perhaps the thermite and molten metal leaks down into the sand and glasses it up.

Not saying I've ever seen this, or if it is done now, but just perhaps something to think about.
