Is now putting up user data for sale to the highest bidder for "academia".

"The 22 sets of data being made available are cheap. Prices range from $10 for raw dumps from the MySpace API to $300 for everything broken out by latitude and longitude. Subsequently derived data sets can be put on sale by InfoChimps users as well, with a revenue split.

Analysis coming from the data could include things like music trends per zipcode, popular URLs being shared, etc."

This is the very reason i never did the myspace or any other so called social networking sites was because they were openly data mining just to sell it... :eg:
its bad enough that the government does it but now private corporations and or whoever can afford it can purchase your info. :tinfoil:

I'm not sure why that made me giggle a little. How annoying, they already make money off advertising among other things... Really, there isn't much respect to be had for a company like MySpace. :(
