Garrison Taylor, a G4 Associate Producer and Video Recruiter contacted me regarding my video of me and my friends freaking out over the new coke machine:
YouTube - The BEST machine EVER!!!! - Coke Machine/Soda Dispenser from the future!

According to him, his producers are interested in my video, and asked me to sign a release to use it on their show, "Web Soup."

I agreed to this, and followed his instructions to submit it.
Not even an hour later he informed me:
"The episode of WEB SOUP that we are planning to air your video in is currently scheduled to air on Sept. 12 on G4....as we get closer to that date, someone from our staff will contact you via email in order to confirm."

lol he didn't mention anything in return (usually they would right away to try to get you to say yes)

but I don't wanna be like "where's my sh*t duuuuuude?"

I've never actually watched the show before, but I guess they just use a bunch of videos from the internet.

WELL ACTUALLY, I just remembered, he said my video will officially be considered licensed.

Niceeee! Just be warned on Web Suop the host Chris, makes fun of internet videos. He will probably be saying dude a lot. Web Soup - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It will probably be featured in "The Big Upload" section but don't hold me to it. The hits on the video will probably increase exponentiallly.

lol yeah there was some agreement and terms of service, it mentioned that I would accept that my video may be dubbed/edited/narrated and/or some other things I can't remember.

I wanna record the episode and upload that on my youtube as well, that would be pretty cool having the original video and having the (probably funnier) one from TV.

If you already signed a release without talking $$ I wouldn't hold my breath about getting anything. If you work fast you may be able to pitch to a few companies to put an ad on your video on youtube.

I'm really not trying to get money from it, I mean if I was offered I'd gladly take it, but it's not that big of a deal to me.
I wonder if they have payed any of the other people to use their videos. The way I see it, if I try to ask for money, they could just forget about my video and just move onto the next.

lol I was just offered by someone else to put their buisness link in my video and they will pay me. First I just need to find out that the guy isn't going to rip me off. Any tips on figuring this out?

Yeah make sure the check clears before you do it. Dont be afraid..if they went through the effort to contact you it clearly shows they want it. They do make quite a bit of money for those shows. Why should you give it to them for free? The worst that could happen is they say no..big deal.

Your sitting on a gold mine and you don't even know it. I'd be contacting companies and have them bid for an ad spot on your video. I don't know about you but I think anyone could use a few thousand dollars...or more. This is your chance to cash in, don't blow it.

He asked what method of payment I'd like, check, paypal, some other method.. I myself would prefer paypal, so I told him that.

Well I've never done anything like this, so I wouldn't know how to contact other companies. And for all I know, after September 12th when the video is shown, there might be something else much better that steals the attention from my video, mine might not get anymore youtube views than it already has.
