I just looked up to notice I had a few more tabs open than normal.. quite a few.
Usually I browse with about 20 open, but I just counted 46.

When I browse forums I usually middle click any thread I see that sparks my interest. I couldn't imagine LEFT CLICKING a thread, clicking through all the pages, then clicking the BACK button and moving onto the next, that is just too silly. :p

How many tabs do you guys usually have open on average?

You should only open one tab at a time.. or they may go flat before you finish....

I generally have a good 10-20 open as well. How did we ever survive without tabbed browsing? Forums would be damn near impossible to navigate.

LOL. TAB soda? I haven't sen that in about forever.

I usually "work" with no more than 10 open tabs. It's easier for me to stay focused and not get lost in what all those tabs were opened for in the first place.

If I'm saving a lot of images, I'll open each in a new tab and save as I go. I think the most in that case was maybe 40 tabs, but that's rare for me.

Hey, you don't need to click the back button with Opera! Just use mouse gestures and you're good to go!


Also, it's time to check your PM's, man...

I usually only have 1-5 open!!

Here's my computer if I tried to open 50 tabs:

I once had a good 120+ tabs open, at that point Firefox started getting a little edgy about memory, lagging, etc. Chrome is much nicer about how it manages the memory, however, much better-suited to my browsing style. Right now, I only have 20 open, but only a couple are actually useful.

Normally, on my faster machine, I will have a couple of iPlayer tabs on the left-hand window, Facebook, GMail and LPF on the right-hand one, behind my "working set" of 30-40 tabs of the project I'm actually working on. My browsing style is typically to Google a word or phrase, then open up all of the promising links in new tabs, to read through one by one. I might highlight a few useful phrases then move to the next tab. If I accidentally hit "Open in New Window" the same process continues, but in the new set of tabs instead. As you may guess, this gets messy after a while... ;)

I can't imagine having 48 at a time... My brain would explode. I usually have 1-8, maybe I should try using more.

Call me strange, I will sometimes have 2 tabs in IE, and also have this forum running on firefox at the same time.

My web mail is usually on in the background as well.

On average 1 or 2. I have LPF open always and usually one for FB. If I open a third it for all my miscellaneous browsing. I don't like clutter so when I have more than 5 open at a time it tends to bug me. LOL
