I was out on a blind date last night, and then received a phone call from one of my buddy's(Neighbor) that a van he's never seen before pulled into my driveway, and people got out and hopped the fence into my backyard.

I called the police and by the time they got their.. the damage was already done. Since it was done at night, my buddy couldn't make out the driver's licence.

I was about 45 minutes away from my house, so when I got back, their where 3 police car's, and none of the robbers were found. I went inside, expecting the worst, and to my surprise, it was worse then what I expected. All of my kitchen appliances were ripped out and taken and some of my furniture was taking as-well. Also, A painting from my mom, (Who has passed away, bless her heart) was also taken.

As I walked up stairs, I knew that all of my valuables had been taken, which they were. All my jewelry (Watches, Neck-less's, Expensive dress shoes..etc. where gone, but they decided to leave my dinosaur computer here.. Probably because the thing was to heavy and would take to long to take it to their van. My 2 dog's were okay though, which is basically what i cared most about, because if they hurt them, I would go on a rampage.

All in all, The damage was around $4,000, not including sentimental value.. It looks like my dreams of buying a great laser has completely diminished, Now that I have no sense of security, I will be much more careful of how I do things. (If anyone is going to ask, Yes I do have a security system, but I don't use it because I live in a safe Neighborhood, and this is the last thing I had expected.

I will still be on the forum's though, as I will hope someone will come along with a great deal in my -$4,000 dollar budget.. Anyway's, hope all is well with my fellow LPF'ers, and I hope none of you will have to go through anything similar to what I did.

He called me, because he didn't know if they where friends of mine, he didn't want to call the cop's, so he called me first to check if i was expecting somebody... Why would i post this if i was lying? What would i get out of that?

I don't think he thought you were lying, maybe he thought your friend might be in on it ?

check out the pawn shops and second hand stores in your area !
I hope you get your mom's painting back.

Oh... Well I never really thought of that... I mean, since he called me it would make it seem like he would be on my side.. But maybe that's what he wanted me to think? I'm going to think this over some more..

No home owners insurance?

I agree, it does sound fishy. Obviously they were in your house for a while. How long did the cops take to get there? And why didnt your friend go get the plate number after he talked to you?

Also, you're not home at night, a van pulls in your driveway, and people hop the fence, yet he calls you first? What is he soft? You have a house alarm, but you dont use it because the neighborhood is nice??? Um...thieves dont prowl shady neighborhoods my friend.

Well the thing is, I can't use the motion censor's because my dog's are allowed to be around the house when im gone, and they would set if off, so it would be just for doors, and they broke the window, so it wouldn't even make a difference if I had it on or not.

Also, I am quite stressed out, so all this negative input from people is kinda bumming me out, I would appreciate it if people stopped questioning it. And yes, I have lived in this neighborhood for some years now, with no break-ins at all. Also, by a nice neighborhood, i did not mean huge houses and rich people, i mean a comfortable neighborhood where everyone knew each-other.

flamin pyro would be correct in my assumption. I think that way be cause it actually happened to me... we came home from a family vacay and our back sliding door was broken but only my stuff and my bros stuff was gone. but the fishy part was as we pulled in the drive way or neighbor was there with his gun claiming to protect our house. he admited it about 10 years later that he had his friends do it.

if it isn't too late.. .don't admit to your friend of any of the items that were stolen. and see if he ever tires to "console" you on "oh man i hope you get your clothes back" or what ever....

Seriously, no insurance? Really?

I'm a 20 year old, with a horrible job. I am barely making it, and no, Unfortunately, I don't, You guys have lots of criticism, I'm sure if this happened to you, and people where saying all the wrong things you did, it would not make you feel any better. When something unfortunate as this happens to you one day, you may understand where I am coming from.

Not trying to be rude or anything, but who was the date set up by? It could be that the date was a way of luring you away from your home?

It was set up by one of my best friends from High School, (completely unrelated to the "buddy" who may of had something to do with it)
