I don't know if this is considered advertising, but i just thought i'd share this with you guys. I have followed his projects for quite some time, which include a pretty sick railgun.

Nope....made it a year ago. Didnt fire....because FOUR RESISTORS came with the wrong value -.- 40 cents....and the badest coil thingy is dead....220 hours of work.

You got me wrong :)
THAT gauss was in my locker....16 months...no idea what was wrong. Then I thought CHECK THE RESISTORS. High value, high resistance, weak signal....and that was the reason.

If you drop the weight of the projectile and inject some compressed air behind the "bullet"
You would see an amazing increase in power!
I love the design of the gun... pretty cool. Looks like Marathon from Bungie.. of the mid-1990s

I m not one of those cheaters using air injectors for their railguns.

Its called a gauss gun....not CO2 cannon. Pure electricity.

I see. Well, it's another one of your fantastic builds. I love the look of it!!

Still what would happen if you dropped the weight of the projectile? What about using a Nd magnet instead?

Experiment ?

Have to admit, its not that flawless.....this build.
Laser and Sight are more decorative, not accurate. Sucks actually.
Specially on such a powerful toy, accurate aiming is top on the to-do-list.

Magnets wont work. I use contacts to switch the coils.
Droping the weight...higher speed, less mass less force on impact. Wont change much I guess.
