VERY intersting, hope this fits, mabe we all can have that rifle scpe lens after all:

can someone take a look at this ^^ and see if it will fit in the MXDL?
Well, I know the size of my heatsinks. The glass lens in an MXDL is 1 1/4" diameter. That lens just might fit the MXDL, but the only way to know is to spend the $2.50. If it doesn't fit, it will be close...

well I got the AMC today, thanks, but judging by the size, it turns out mabe DX did ship me my 350mA AMC drivers in the same package of my MXDL after all, mabe they were so small I didnt see them and I threw them away with the yellow package...

You must be talking 800mA's. If your are talking 800 lumens. Please show us the link, so we can buy them!!!

Nope, not mA, Lumens! I think you would need some substantial heat sinking, but if you could make it work that would be one bright flashlight!! It's 20v, so you would need a dc-dc converter or something of the sort. AMK posted the link a couple lines above, but I had to throw in my two cents.

Yeah...I did see the link. amk and I were typing our post at the same time. So, I saw the link only after I posted. I figure that is too much battery to have in a handheld. Either that, or the run time would not be good at all. There just might be such a thing as 'too bright'! Lol...

jayrob wash your mouth out with soap !!! :D  There is NO such thing as TOO bright !!!

Did you guys see this drop in module ??  http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11074  I dig the complete brightness adjustability.  I'm definately getting one of these babys.

Lol! Now I got soap stuck between my teeth! Nice find on that drop in Q5 module. It says Q5 WC?? Here's the emitter by itself:

Wonder what the difference is besides size? I saw that they have one on a 16mm base, and also on a 14mm base...

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me with a problem I've been having. When I ground the outer ring on the controller, I lose all voltage across the wires. If I leave the ring ungrounded and attach my multimeter across the red wire and the case, I get a 6V reading. Am I grounding the outer ring incorrectly? If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Hard to answer without more details and/or pictures of what you have there. Which driver? The AMC, or the 5 mode? The AMC driver has some kind of a cut out protection. But if you are only checking voltage, then that shouldn't matter...

Thanks for the quick reply. It's the 5 mode controller from the beginning of the post. The instructions just say to squeeze a wire between the controller and the casing to ground it to the outer ring. I didn't actually soder it yet, but I'm sure that it's connecting the outer ring of the controller to the inside of the housing. If I need to upload some pictures I can. If you have any specific angles or parts that you want to see just let me know. Thanks.

There are two leads that are already soldered on that driver. The positive and the negative for the connection to the emitter. If you have the outer ring of the board, properly grounded, and making 'GOOD' contact to the MXDL host, then you will be able to just check the continuity from the MXDL case, to the negative lead. This should be continuous. Use an ohms meter to check it...
