Your welcome! Just glad that some people liked it. But since I did this mod, there have come into production some awesome lights using the Q5, and some even better LED lights too.

Still a pretty cool little mod though...

i ordered everything more then 2 months ago.First shipment i got the mxdl.I didn't have batts so i used 4 aa's.It was bright.Second shipment.They said i got everything but i did not get the driver.I told them and they sent one.When it came i realized they sent a headphone converter.Now they will hopefully ship a driver.

Is IT Still worht it modding??? or is it better just to buy something like this:dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14027

or

and it has the alum reflector and all!

(I may mod it any ways)

I did the mod when they first came out with the the Q5 emitter.

Now, they have lights with the Q5 in there. Like the ones that you linked! (nice links)

This MXDL mod is still a nice mod, but yeah... I think that it is out of date now.

Well I ordered the parts anyways to make it!! :cool:

I got a little direrent setup as I ordered from DX the 3AAA (sku. 1442) torch that you showed and a 5 mode driver (sku. 6190)

I wish that DX whould offer a 3AA torches and not only 3AAA

but if I like the outcome I will order the 3AA light that you got on Ebay... That thing looked neat!!

I got all the parts and Ill build it soon problably today or tomorow I will post my results and some pics!

Sorry I was out!!!

I made it and this thing is impressive !!

in my setup with the 3aaa and the 5 mode driver I get a like 1.5 hours of run time and the its start to get dim but its still usable

the reflector fit really good over the emitter so no donut hole

It don't get hot

the modes are useful but are pissing me off because it has a reverse clicky so it sometimes changes modes with out me wanting to change it....

I order a couple more hosts for these on DX and the 1050ma drivers to see how that works

Also I ordered the new Cree R2 DX sku.15943 ;D
