Measuring resistance of a potentiometer ?

How would one go about doing this ?? I know I'd need a multi-meter, but what pins on the Pot to I need to touch it on ?

Also, how would one go about replacing a pot with a resistor, what leads would I need to connect it too ??

There ar 3 pins on a Potentiometer (Pot) the two outside ones are the total
resistance of the Pot. The center pin (controlled by the shaft) is the variable
resistance between the two ends. It slides from one end to the other.

If let's say.. the measurement of the two ends is 1000 ohms and the center pin
contact is exactly half way between the two ends then you would get 500 ohms
between the center pin and any of the two ends.

If let's say the center pin contact was 10% from one end then the resistance
would be 100 ohms from that end to the center pin and 900 ohms from the center
pin to the other end.

These measurements are aproximate depending on, if you have a linear pot or a
logarithmic.

You can replace any of these these values with 2 resistors once you know
where you want to adjust the pot.

If your circuit only uses 2 pins of the pot then just measure these 2 pins
and you can replace the pot with 1 resistor of that value.
