Gift cards are a scam, no matter where they come from. I forget off hand how many never get used at all, but it is somewhere in the 25% range. Retailers count on that. If you are going to give money, just make it MONEY.

That is so absurd and ridiculous. So by their logic, if you then used the .43 dollar gift card for your next meal of 5 dollars, then gave them a 20 dollar bill for the rest, you would receive another GC for 15.43?! That sounds like a complete and utter scam.

I work at the busiest truck stop in my state, and, not to toot my own horn but, I'd like to see that manager ring up 13,000 gallons of diesel, 2,000 gallons of gasoline, 100+ scale tickets, and 5,000+ dollars in cash advances and check cashing all while answering the phone for the whole building AND managing the pumpers, store cashiers, and maintenance workers all in 10 hours. He/she would would probably start crying when the truckers start yelling at him/her to "hurry the F up."

Na they'd probably be confused for a few mins and then not even use the gift card if their manager says cash first. Still silly though... cash first.

Right, silly indeed. I don't think many places had that in mind when they started selling gift cards.

chill dudes-Mcd Corprate sets the rules-must suck to be a McD manager-

on a lighter note search 'Hidden Menus' at McD you can order odd combos like the sea-land and air sandwich-- you order a fish -a q.p. and a chicken and throw away the bread- or the McBig Chicken two chicken patties with the meat from a big mac in between---no bun-

My 'Office' is the corner booth with power- (0nly one) its a PITA to log in every so often- but its free wifi so...& open 24 hrs(in a row)

I take two or 3 laptops with me to get max done is shortest time-.(GEEK!)

Slightly off topic, but after almost 40 years of eating my fair share of junk food from McDlds and an almost addiction to Coke, I can now say I am celebrating a year of being "McDlds and Coke" free.
I still eat some take out but not McDlds or drink any type of Coke.

This 'food' is highly addictive and even though I knew it was bad I still craved it.
I also found that Coke cause/contributed to my kidney stones.
Last year alone I had three kidney stone attacks, very painful and required surgery.
It took a doctor to explain and finally convince me to stop drinking Coke.
Once I did break the cycle I found it a breeze to stay off the MickyD's and Coke.

Now I just go in to use their rest rooms, LOL.

Anyway just wanted to share my story.

You should especially stay away from diet dinks that contain aspartame. Watch out for the water too.

Thanks for all the comments guys. Sorry I disappeared there for a bit. Thanks Rich. I'm sorry to come off as so cantankerous. I am a very opinionated person and sometimes I don't handle it in the best of ways.

So just an update, this was in Waco, Texas on Valley Mills Drive (Nothing Good Comes From Waco)

I got the gift card from my Team Lead at work. I found it funny that when I got my refund and went over to Whataburger (Very likely the best Fast Food hamburger, but it is still fast food) and did the EXACT same thing... they gave me cash back, not a gift card. (I got 4x5.00 gift cards McD's, Starbux, Whataburger, and something else I forgot)

The #6 is a 10 piece Chicken* Nuggets with fries and a drink (If you want to call it "Chicken")

Aspartame and Fluoride are extremely bad for you.

I need to quit drinking Dr. Pepper so much. Needs to be a new year's resolution, but I'm not that committed.

Well I'll direct this thread back to the original forum design... I'm at work, it's Christmas Eve Day, No one else is here but me... Yuuup I brought my soldering iron and supplies and I am in the process of soldering me up an LM317t driver for my 445nm diode. And I'm leaving at lunch.

Hi,
I didn't know that hamburgers and lasers were of the same nature....

Rich:)

LOL, I was negged and lost like 20 points and driven into the red for posting something in this section that wasn't about lasers in the past. A few members didn't like what they considered woo woo crap being put on the forum... even if it was put in the "Other" section. Well, it was woo woo crap, but I liked it and wanted to share :p

I don't go to McDonalds anymore, not in the USA, their food isn't very good. In Ukraine however, the quality is much higher, higher in a 3rd world country? Go figure!

Where havent you been Alaskan, your life sure is one of those National Geographic specials. Other than being to Greece twice ive never been off the east coast.

It would seem Mcd,s in the US would be the best strange?
A few Mcd,s facts that everyone probably knows
When they went to the auto push button on the soda station its saved millions of $ a day from over splash.
I believe 80% of their trucks runs off of recycled french fries oil......RB they do have clean bathrooms well at least they smell clean?

I worked as a civilian supporting the USAF and Army in Afghanistan for their UAV satellite telecom and two way radio systems for five years, I had two months off a year and would just travel to Europe and other places on that side of the planet instead of coming back to the States. One thing I learned, I didn't like countries with a strong Muslim culture, was too different from my own to feel comfortable with their cultures, even in Turkey, I felt uncomfortable among them as a clear outsider. Before I visited so many different countries in southwest Asia, I felt a certain amount of distance from some of the cultures in our own country here, for example, inner city teen to young adult black culture (please don't equate that with racism, it's the behavior & music, not which race) but after traveling so much, if you are an American (Canadian too) you are my brother, no matter where you are from in this country or what race culture. While I write that, it just occurred to me I don't know all of the cultures in this country, so it might not be completely true, but my point is, after seeing how different people are in some of those countries, I no longer saw much distance between any of us here in the US.

In Ukraine, where my wife is from, McD uses better tasting meat and the fries must use a different oil because they taste much better, their menu is pretty much the same, but they do have a few differences. A Big Mac in Ukraine is a good tasting sandwich but here, so so to not so good. Also, food is cheap in that country because they pay their employees nothing! I can buy a bottle of great beer in Ukraine for 25 cents each.

Kudos to you:beer: I just couldnt do it. When I was little my biggest adventure would be wanting to sleep on the front porch or in the back yard in a huge box but my parents wouldnt even let me do that. Now I cringe at the thought the corner store might be an "hours" ride away. You do have some storys though:) A while back Mcd,s cut out the animal fat used in their fries and that made a huge difference, so I assume the Ukraine doesnt have these US laws. Even Greece gave in and had restrictions on how to their street vended Gyros were to be made. (Trust me its a good good thing they did)......Edit even though im Greek first generation born in the US I was known as the little american over there and saw some racism over that......Trend this thread exploded didnt it?

Here's what I do with gift cards. I give them the card. If there isn't enough on it to cover the total, I wait for them to tell me the remaining balance.

Lots of racism going on all over the world, when I was in Afghanistan we had lots of people from India working on the base and they would get out of line to open a spot for me up front simply because I was white, I wouldn't let them do that.
