I am a complete atheist. To me, it is completely unreasonable that anything have been "created" by some god or any other wierd being. Science has reasonable and logic explainations about everything, religion has NOT. At least to me, all religion are bullshit and have caused more wars than anything else. Much terrorism in the world is based on religion.

Science rules the universe, and will always do.

Of course this is only my opinion. Everyone is free to believe in whatever thay want. I respect other people's different beliefs, even if I don't belive in them. Everyone has the right to have their own opinion, which is good.

Awesome topic!! I cannot believe there is a place I can exclaim I am an "athiest", "anti-theist", "Bright", whatever, no supernatural, at all, (well maybe a little Pasta-farianism). ;D ;D I guess it make sense, one will have very little luck wishing lasers to work properly
Wow, I am out of the closet, weee!!.
As far as the "war" between science and religion, I beleive they have nothing to do with each other. Science is a "process" of observation of the natural-world, things that may be witnessed, hypothisised, predicted, tested and pier-reviewed, religion speaks exclusivly about the "super-natural" world, to me, no overlap. Now I beleive there is a war, and always has been between the "rational" and "irrational ideas", at times I think we have all found ourselves on each side of this dicotomy. Science also has no ability to speak on moral-issues, so our politics should be seperate from both as well, science needs to inform the politicians, but the measure of morals is extremly relative and must be decided by the people and reviewed over time, therefore, not a field for science.
I really hope this topic stays rational, there is so much emotion wrapped up in these things, BTW I love the pictures! ;D
It is nice to be on the majority-side for a change.

If I am not mistaken, Buddism is not generally considered a religion, rather a philosophy. You can be a Buddist and whatever else, except the "whatever else" usually does not like the competition and wants you to choose.

Then you use your intellect to produce a device that is different from the original purpose - A High Power Laser Pointer

You then look up at the stars and realize that your laser pales in comparison to the power of the stars,

But in all your INFINITE WISDOM you conclude that YOU are the most intelligent creature in the Universe!

This is a "straw-man" argument, nobody said that we are "the most intelligent creature in the universe", or that we have infinite wisdom, did they? If we are designed, than what of all of the "flaws", results of a poor design? To follow your analogy, we would not design our lasers to develop cancer, or direct our lasers to attack other lasers in our name, ( we would be "laser-gods", LOL ;D). If both lasers prayed to me to win, which would I pick? I do not think it has anything to do with egos.
BTW are we all not athiests of every religion but your own? Is there anyone here worshiping Thor or Athena? Would this not make you an athiest as well? *:-/ I am not satified with easy answers.
These are just questions that are in my mind, it is not my intention to offend or persaude, only to provoke thought.

Some people assume that if they can't see it, touch it or understand it; that it doesn't exist. I'm not one of them

My biggest quandry would not be about "Life". It would be where the matter (atoms, etc) came from in the first place.

At some point matter (atoms, molecules, elements) appeared!

To have a "big bang" you still have to have matter.
To have a "oscillating universe" you still have to have matter.

Any theory on the origin of the universe presupposes the existence of matter already!

Its much easier to make a laser, if you already have the pieces in front of you then if you have to create them out of thin air.
