Atheist. Well, less of an atheist and more of a God-hating heretic. Maybe I'm just bitter that my mother tried to raise me so Jewishly (yes), but I managed to flip off the Wailing/Western Wall in Jerusalem, and I even avoided being mobbed!

Do you understand what a semantic tautology is?

His entire position is the same as most any other Christian.
He is just using different terms to require the same actions.

Re-framing or re-naming the reasons for the action do not change the required action.

It just seems to me that ANY belief in something greater, or transcendent than oneself is inherently religious. Humans just want to interject there own beliefs into this ' structure ' of religion. Kind of like a connect the dots mentality, insert your god of choice.

Theodiceans, Jainists, Buddhists, Taoists, Spiritualists, Hinduists, Wiccans, and some other atheists currents, as example ..... after all, atheism technically is not a reject of religion, is just the negation that Gods exists ..... absence of religion, or hostility against religions, are usually defined "irreligion", or, more rarely, "areligion" ("a" in front as negation, like in "amoral" and other similar terms)

EDIT: @ MarkmeijerNL : the original ones, or the fake ones ?

The original ones was from Baviera in the 1750/1800 period (Bavarian Illuminates, originally founded with the name of "The Perfettible Ones"), don't remember exactly, and was a secret society opposed to Masonry, that had as goal, first to "spread illumination and knowledge" in Bavaria, and then to make a unique world government with "light" (intended as "perfection, good work, intelligence, knowledge" and similars) for anyone.

In the time, some others exoteric occultists societies took the same name, but they was all fakes, or copies, nothing to do with the original ones.

Many. Just think about anything that is done, followed, or participated in religiously. Buddhism (Even without a god), football, The Twilight series, Oprah. You participate in any of these with people who do the same really. Go to a football game, where people have pushed aside their priorities to be able to go, or to simply watch it and you'll find yourself among other believers at a worship service.

However, the terms he brings up do qualify. I've said this many times already, but a Bible reading and believing Christian for instance does not go to the church that worry about rules, and systematic behavior change. He will instead go to a church to feed his heart change. This is something he wants to do because he has changed- become a new man. He doesn't go to become changed. That's not how it works.

Exactly. Anything can be idolized and revered as something greater than life itself. Just about everybody is religious. Most simply don't know it!

Yeah, I struggle with getting caught up following the pattern of living that I grew up seeing in a Presbyterian church. I saw how "good Chrisitian men" lived. And I tried for very long to live like them, but it eventually degraded back to down "Nah, I'll just kind of make up my own 'style' and be 'true to myself' kind of thing instead".

I made mistakes, went back to church elsewhere, got a church family, got saved, and now I know why I see Christians live differently. If you can't tell a difference between a "Christian" and some other man, then there has been no heart change in him at all. The heart change is permanent, the behavioral change is temporary.

Its not like a Christian "feels" anything another man doesn't. He doesn't "hear" things, and twitch his eyes around muttering in strange "tongues". His way of thinking is different.

An atheist says faith is believe without evidence. A faithful man says faith is nothing more than trust.

You're addressing the wrong definition of religion. Notice how no one has stated "football" as their religion in this thread.

Yeah, but basically afterlife and higher power religions don't necessarily states the presence of a "God" or similar, as divine power, omniscent, omnipotent and omnipresent being, like in more "common" religions (who said "catholic" ? ..... ), right ?

Imho, the basical question in most of these discussions, can be reduced to a simple concept: "do we NEED to have a God of some sort, for act in a responsible and ethical way ?" (ethical, not moral ) ..... or, said in another way, "do peoples really NEED the presence of a superior being (call it God, if you want), for avoid to steal, kill, rape, and act in a bad way ?"

I think that it is in the human mind, humans are the highest and smartest race on earth,

maybe we seek an god,i can not say that there is nothing up there, but i cant say that there is something op there,.

about christians themselves you`ve got several belevies in the religion themselves.

extremist, katholic,Protestant Christian,( i dont know if that is the right definiton),johova`s withnesses,Roman Catholic Church, and MAAANNNYYY others.

I think religon holds back technology.

but i also think it opens technology in forms of art and knowledge and whisdom.

i didnt find a religion that fits to me.

if someone has an opion .

just respect eachother even as you think it is stupid.

Mind the difference between a belief and the religion around it. Also, both religion and science have seen their power been abused. That doesn't make them wrong or right.

Science doesn't say anything about god, it just describes what we can observe. Stating if a god exists or not is a statement of your beliefs, so don't use science to back up your beliefs.
