Obama used a pseudonym in emails with Clinton, FBI documents reveal - POLITICO

Obama used a pseudonym in emails with Clinton, FBI documents reveal
By JOSH GERSTEIN and NOLAN D. MCCASKILL 09/23/16 06:27 PM EDT Updated 09/23/16 07:28 PM EDT
President Barack Obama used a pseudonym in email communications with Hillary Clinton and others, according to FBI records made public Friday.

The disclosure came as the FBI released its second batch of documents from its investigation into Clinton’s private email server during her tenure as secretary of state.

The 189 pages the bureau released includes interviews with some of Clinton’s closest aides, such as Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills; senior State Department officials; and even Marcel Lazar, better known as the Romanian hacker “Guccifer.”

In an April 5, 2016 interview with the FBI, Abedin was shown an email exchange between Clinton and Obama, but the longtime Clinton aide did not recognize the name of the sender.

"Once informed that the sender's name is believed to be pseudonym used by the president, Abedin exclaimed: 'How is this not classified?'" the report says. "Abedin then expressed her amazement at the president's use of a pseudonym and asked if she could have a copy of the email."

The State Department has refused to make public that and other emails Clinton exchanged with Obama. Lawyers have cited the "presidential communications privilege," a variation of executive privilege, in order to withhold the messages under the Freedom of Information Act.

The report doesn't provide more details on the contents of that particular email exchange, but says it took place on June 28, 2012, and had the subject line: "Re: Congratulations." It may refer to the Supreme Court's ruling that day upholding a key portion of the Obamacare law.

A report on the FBI's June 7, 2016 interview with "Guccifer" confirms FBI Director James Comey's claim that Lazar falsely asserted that he'd surreptitiously accessed Clinton's server.

"Lazar began by stating that he had never claimed to hack the Clinton server. [An FBI agent] then advised that Fix News had recently published an article which reported that Lazar had claimed to have to Clinton server. Lazar then stated that he recalled the interview with Fox News, and that he had lied to them about hacking the Clinton server."

Additional FBI interviewees whose reports were made public Friday included Jake Sullivan, Clinton's policy planning director; Bryan Pagliano, a former Clinton technology aide; Monica Hanley, a veteran Clinton aide who worked for her in the Senate and at State; and Sidney Blumenthal, Clinton’s longtime confidant.

The so-called "302" reports also detail FBI interviews with former Secretary of State Colin Powell, former CIA acting director Mike Morell, State Department official Pat Kennedy, State Department Inspector General Steve Linick, Bill Clinton aide Justin Cooper, former diplomatic security chief Eric Boswell and longtime diplomat Lewis Lukens.

Some of the interview reports had the subject's name removed on privacy grounds before the records were released. Many of those people seem to be computer technicians or lower-level State Department officials.

The FBI published 58 pages of documents earlier this month that revealed Clinton had relied on others’ judgment to not send her classified material during email correspondences.

“Clinton did not recall receiving any emails she thought should not be on an unclassified system,” the FBI said in its Sept. 2 report. “She relied on State officials to use their judgment when emailing her and could not recall anyone raising concerns with her regarding the sensitivity of the information she received at her email address.”

Let me be clear there: I'm not saying the circumstances how two or more groups of people ended up in the same country are comparable in any way.

What i do see is similarities on how the situation is working out: you get a big us-vs-them mentality going, with 'them' blaming police to be selectively violent against 'them' and such. You could substitute 'us' and 'them' for whites and blacks, or non-muslims and muslims in that, depending if you are looking at the US or western europe.

For ages we've heard the dogma from politicians that there should be 'integration', but it's becoming more and more clear here that 'they' do not want to integrate, and 'we' don't really want them to anymore either.

It is important to note that no-one is considering people being treated differently by the legal system or anything like that. This is voluntary segregation, no law tells who where to live or whom to socialize with, but people choose to stick with their own group themselves.

Yeah, blacks here have never self- segregated and have fought for years to make sure that didn't happen. It seems like many people who could be identified as racist, or just civil war mitigaters have become more vocal since we elected an African-American president. When the Republicans became the majority in both houses of congress, they have tried to "investigate" the policies of Obama, and that has led to more conspiracy theories that never seem to have any proof. That has made the whole country more divisive. It seems like there are more southern states that are trying to enact laws that are reminiscent of Jim Crow. The large difference between the USA and any European country is our constitutional rights and laws that were made specifically to keep people who would like to discriminate from doing so. They make up different parts of a complex system to keep people from discriminating on jobs, housing, ability to vote, etc. For the most part, many minorities here are trying to get ahead just like everyone else. Most of the immigrants are decent people and are trying to make a better life for their children. This election, in particular, has set up a lot of animosity that was always there, but not vocalized as it wasn't considered polite conversation. So, things have not been this divisive since the 1960s in my memory.

Hillary chickens out of her previously trip to Charlotte NC.

Hillary Clinton postpones trip to Charlotte -campaign statement | Reuters

"Hillary is grateful for, and intends to honor, the invitation from faith leaders to visit with the Charlotte community," her campaign said in a statement on Friday.

"After further discussion with community leaders, we have decided to postpone Sunday's trip as to not impact the city's resources," it said, adding that Clinton will visit the city on the following Sunday.

(If you guys can't tell, I can't wait for college football tomorrow... )

--------------------------------

Welcome to ESPN's coverage of the 2016 US Presidential Election. Brent Musberger and Kirk Herbstreit on the call.

Brent: You are looking live at the presidential election thread on Laser Pointer Forums. We've got a great matchup for you tonight, folks. The Internet Heavyweights promise an excellent show.

Kirk: I agree, Brent. Let's have a look at the players' accomplishments up to tonight. It's an impressive résumé.
  • User - Thread Posts (% of total account posts in this thread)
  • AaronT - 68 (29.3%)
  • paul1598419 - 393 (18.3%)
  • RedCowboy - 374 (10.8%)

Brent: Our three featured players account for over 46% of the production in this thread. An incredible feat to say the least. What do you think of them, Herbie?

Kirk: We really have a tale of two methods here. RedCowboy and paul1598419 both have impressive production here in this thread. Paul narrowly edges him out, but if they want to have a real shot at the Politnikoff Award they need to talk about lasers less.

Brent: Agreed. AaronT has really dedicated himself to the discussion here. It's amazing to think - nearly thirty percent of his account activity can be accounted for in a single thread.

Kirk: You could say he has laser focus?

Brent: *chortle* Yes, Herbie.

Kirk: We can joke all night, but these guys are really serious competitors. By the time election day rolls around, it wouldn't surprise me if they combined for 70% of the posts in this thread.

Brent: On top of that, their individual accomplishments should be unprecedented. Our second- and third-place contenders should combine for well over 1,000 posts in this thread in the next month. They're already well on the way!

Kirk: We really can't ignore AaronT's progression though. By early November it would not surprise me if the majority of his account posts are in this very thread!

Brent: Truly a historic achievement. Having most of your posts on a laser forum be about politics. It boggles the mind. Do you think it would be Heisman worthy, Herbie?

Kirk: Perhaps. The battle between pure production versus percentage of account activity will probably result in a fairly even three-way split of Heisman voters. We'll need a few dozen more pages before we get a really good idea.

Brent: We'll soon find out! Looks like the teams are lined up for the kickoff, and we're going to get underway!

Yep! You can find how many posts a person has in a thread by clicking the number of posts in the forum that contains the thread (in this case, "Other").

Just arithmetic!

Hmmm, another Democrat with a gun loses it...

Arcan Cetin: Did He Support Hillary Clinton & ISIS? | Heavy.com

Cetin was arrested on September 24 and is accused in the mass murder of five people in the Macy’s store at Cascade Mall in Burlington, Washington. It’s also been revealed that, although Cetin was widely described as Hispanic in the media when he was not yet identified by name, his Facebook page says he is from Turkey. The Seattle Times newspaper says police first misidentified Cetin, a Turkish immigrant, as Hispanic, adding that police said they identified him as Hispanic based on surveillance photos and his dark hair.

A Tumblr page in his name contains references to the phrase “Subhan Allah,” which means Glory be to God, as well as comments about serial killers. It links to a page that praises the ISIS leader. Police have not yet determined the shooter’s motive in the mall attack, according to The Seattle Times, and Cetin has a troubled past that includes domestic violence allegations. By one account, he called out a woman’s name while allegedly firing.

What’s the evidence that he took a side in the upcoming presidential election, though?

A Twitter page in Cetin’s name (identified as his page by the New York Times) contains this 2015 post:

Well by that logic Clinton should be put in prison for felony destruction of records. But she's above the law for some reason. Complete and utter failure of our justice system

Hillary is the political version of 'too big to fail'. It would damage the integrity of our political system if such a big player and family was found to be corrupt and guilty of criminal charges.

I can't even keep track of how often Trump supporters have leveled this accusation. It is as ludicrous as the first time it was posted. Wanting Clinton out of the race doesn't mean Republican accusations will make it so, and to protest, yet again, is just sour grapes.
