Does anybody else think this place is getting deserted?
When I first joined, I would see new posts every day but ever since Senkat left and Timelord started being a jerk this place started getting lonely. :p

This should probably be moved to 'other' but yeah... I agree...
There's nothing interesting to read here anymore. I'm not learning anything from posts like: "I'm a noob to lasers. Where can I get one?"
And it seems like 200 new people join every day and ask the same thing...

Some other forums are lonelier  People have other things to do and activity here has its peaks and nulls. One or two people doi not make a forum work.
I agree that we get a lot of redundant questions.

I'm not saying that Senkat and Timelord made the forum work. I'm perfectly fine with them not being here but apparently some poeple aren't.  About the redundant questions, I agree. A lot of members subscribe to the forum and abandon it rapidly.  I may not post too many times but trust me, I check on this forum a lot.  :D

I think it's better to just leave all the drama behind, Senkat is gone, but that doesn't mean the forum is going to die. Honestly I don't think there was a need to post this thread, it'll only bring more drama which isn't good for the forum, we're here to talk about lasers and that's it.
Anybody who doesn't like the forum can just leave, I know that we're getting a lot of noobs but I enjoy helping people out and it doesn't really bother me.
Plus I think I learn new stuff every day I log in to the forum, so it's not lonely.

I didn't post this in the hope of starting more drama, I posted this to hopefully spark some new life into this forum. I'm sorry if it seems like I'm talking about Senkat and all that stuff. :)

It is quieter here at the moment, the only threads in my favourites list are old ones I use for posting links. It used to be full of threads I was involved in or watching......
The whole experience has changed, I find it a little frustrating these days that someone comes up with a problem, you post to help sort it out and they never come back to say whether it worked....it just disappears slowly down the page....

At least there is a new Blue-ray GB underway, that should liven things up again :)...which reminds me, I need to feel down the back of the sofa to see if I can afford a couple of sleds for another build or two.

i honestly don't think its quiet here, this forum seems to get more activity than other forums on same subject and there has been a lot more people online lately.

since there are lots of new members, chances are some of them are newbies. but everyone is here to learn and will share their knowledge as best they can

Hmmm...I'm fairly new, about 4 or 5 months. I really haven't felt the 'lonely' thing though. I mean, every project that I have tried, I have gotten great help and advice for. And Senkat is still selling the diodes. Although, I have read there is some question about a 'JL' batch. I'm sure it will get worked out though. I think there is some really great stuff going on here with pushing the open can diodes right now! I don't know of any other informative threads to be found on other forums for the blu-ray writer harvesting either. If anybody knows of someone else who has done this, please let me know where I can learn more... It seems that there are so many great threads and projects to learn about here! I really liked the mini projector that rog8811 showed...

I think its a combination of school, senkat and timelord being dicks, and people thinking that the forum is dying down. Just the mindset that the forum is dying down can make it die down, but i dont think it is. Just look at the number of people online!

Plus i doubt forums with 8000 members and 75,000 posts which has been going for over a year will die out.

As Hemlock mentioned, there are on and off periods. Perhaps you're feeling an off one. I've been a bit busy myself and haven't been following any forums too closely the past week or two. The redundant question are just something that will be there. It happened on LC, it happened on LPF, and it'll happen on anywhere else. The more you stick around, the less will seem new to you because there are always people jumping into the hobby looking to absorb the same information you were once learning yourself. Its a good opportunity to start getting a deeper understanding of everything though, and perhaps spend some time working on projects of your own.

Yes, SenKat has left, and timelord has been banned from spamming and creating multiple acounts, but seriously, we beat our user record the other day! This place is abit quiter without them, but there is still good posts amognst all the others, i mean, you try and get a bluray for $25 anywhere else! Its all this drama that has made people leave. We are working on getting the forum back and really lively again.

I suggest you watch your mouth and grow up. Name calling is immature and does not accomplish anything regardless of how you feel about someone. Greg did more to help me and others than you will ever know, so think before you type!!!
