Hello all.

I'm in pain.
This morning , I was helping round the house , cleaning up and packing old stuff into paper box for the salvation army yeh?

LOADS of stuff ,really heavy but still manageable.
Carried it down to the depot.
Nothing happened.
No pain , nothing.

Then suddenly , afternoon comes.
There starts to be a dull pain at the center of my lower back.

At first , it was nothing.
Just a tad annoying. So I ignored it and carried on with the day.

Now its night and its REALLY starting to get on my nerve.
Its not so much the degree of the pain ,but the persistence.

Now I'm just wondering.... should I go see the doc or something?
(My mom warned of me of not overstraining the back , I told her "I'm 18 mom, I can take it" . Now I'm eating my words..... Do I HAVE to go see the doc? Since.... if I go , my mom is gonna nag me over this for the rest of my life :O )

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've had that happen before, sometimes it lasts a few days. Unless it hasn't got any better after a week or so I wouldn't bother seeing a doctor.

Why ask here? Go see the doctor instead.

Cos I think most of the folks here are both informed with lasers (quite a technical hobby, usually attracts people with a logical mind I assume) and also LIFE (cos usually people who's been here for a while are interested in lasers)
Guess I'll ask around before dishing out the piggy bank for the doc.

PS:Not everyone's insurance plan covers chiropractors

I sure do hope so.
Would hate to be strapped to a chair for the rest of my life

Last year I had a really bad lower back ache. I think it was because I slept in a really awkward position. It was so bad I could barely bend over. Lasted nearly a week but in the end it went away completely by itself and has not returned.

When moving any heavy objects try and straighten your back as much as possible and use your legs instead of your back to lift them up. Ive been moving extremely heavy objects around the house for a week now as we're painting and have not experienced any pain at all :)

LaZeRz gave some good advice there. I grew up working in a Warehouse environment and that's the one thing the old timers would always say. Keep your back straight and lift with your legs. If you hurt your back it's for life :(

It couldn't hurt to see a Doc if you can. They may just give you some hot pads or something, but better safe than sorry.

 I know an old automotive guy, retired now. Hurt his back working on transmissions back in the day. He's on Morphine for life and is so paranoid about not being able to get his pain meds that he keeps his prescriptions in a safe. I think you're fine ;) Just be careful in the future.

I get it every so often, doctors tried everything to no avail.

In the end, just regular over the counter Ibuprofen cures it within 24hrs! , most of the time its muscular you see.

Some people don't have a choice,

it's probably just a strain, buy some deep heat see if that alleviates the pain a little
