As a smoker who's gone through hard financial times in the past, I can tell you, when you're broke and under a lot of stress, cigarettes come before food. It's an addiction. It's easier to go hungry than it is to suffer through nicotine withdrawals. Quitting smoking at a time like that is impossible; it'd only add a heap more stress.

Most of the time, I stay out of this type of issues. I remember someone stating that Laserbee got by with stuff, because of his service (LPMs) to the forum (not my opinion).

Perhaps the ban was to stop the conflict....and to show that no one is too important to get the ax. I don't have a problem with Laserbee...or CrazyJay, I just hope that all involved, will take a step back....and realize that life is too short, to waste on silly grudges.

I would say that you simply do not understand the nature of addiction and/or self-medicating.

Peace,
dave

I agree since I've never been in that boat before.

Sure, I can agree with that since to my knowledge you don't have any kids. If you have kids though, I doubt you'd put the cigarettes before the food.

Yeah, I saw it was closed.

So, the other side of the argument is finally emerging, that is that Ken's meters are poorly constructed. I've heard this from several sources now, and I don't believe that several sources are a coincidence. Sure, maybe one may get out here and there. Also, this is not my opinion, I don't own a Kenometer. I'm just going by what a few other members have stated/told me.

What's the big deal, anyway?

Selling upgrades to another product is perfectly legitimate. Look at cars: I can buy a Dodge Viper, send it to Hennessey, and it comes out the other side as a Hennessey Venom after they upgrade it. Send my Mustang to Roush, and it come south the other side as a Roush Stage I/II/III. Upgrading other products is a perfectly legitimate thing for any business to do, and charging to do it is routine.

I didn't read every single word of every thread, but the post I did read from lasersbee sounded to me like someone sent him a meter, and he upgraded it, no big deal there. He also told what he felt was wrong with it, no big deal there either.

I didn't see him kick a puppy anywhere, so I don't get the uproar.

You and I both. From my knowlegde, CDbeam sent Jerry a POS meter, and Jerry hooked it up to him. As far as I know and understand, don't send shabby products out to your customers and problems like this won't arise. Again, I can understand one out of x amount or products may have been put together in a rush, but as I've said before I've heard this from several sources now.

Jerry only upgraded the meter to show it off, and rebadged it as a laserbee. he sent CDBEAM a regular laserbee.

Why can´t people just forget about what happened? Simply ignore each other, or aren´t you drama queens just not man enough to do so?
I´m sure that many people won´t come here because of the drama crap in too many threads (others like it...). Otherwise we would have break the record of "Most users ever online was 26,311, 04-27-2010 at 03:44 AM." with this new 445nm easily IMHO.

This is just (a great) forums for laser interested parties, we should share our laser experiences and have some fun. Don´t take all too serious, remember: We are on a forum, not in the life.

Right, I'm only replying because mfo seems to want more information. As far as I'm concerned this crap can blow over and be done.

Actually we purchased CDBeam's Meter... he didn't want the PRO
anymore...
I offered him a Brand New USB LaserBee II and he jumped on it...
And I knew what the PRO looked like by CDBeam's Review prior to
getting it... On a Thread somewhere Kenom was asked why he used
so much hot glue and he said it was the only way to mount the parts
and asked if there was another way he would use it...

We ware able to assemble it into another enclosure without using
hot glue but screws to to hold the parts so that they could easily be
replaced..
We improve upon the PRO we had by lowing the standby jitter... the
Power Consumption and the Overall noise rejection...

I was waiting for a PM from Kenom to ask what I had done... and I
would have gladly shared it with him... as I had previously done with
his Lite LPM power supply problems...

It turned into a Flame lasersbee Thread instead...
Now... that upgrade info stays in the Shop...

Under international law (Canada even has special provisions for this), the rebadging of the firmware was/is copyright infringement. The copyright need not be registered with the government.

Even if nothing else, that was illegal.

If y'all can't find a way around this, you'll end up doing it somewhere else.

In any event, this has been discussed ad nauseum in other threads.

Take it to PM's or drop the issue

Peace,
dave

You do not need to "forget about it" or even ever talk to each other again.

You just need to stop discussing it in open forum.

I can easily go for that...
