Hey guys,

I'm working on a project that needs a 24V battery and Li-Po's seem to be the light weight way to go.

I've never worked with Li-Po's before so I don't know the brands, and if Chinese manufacturers lie about the capacity of Li-Po's like they do with Li-ion cells.

I was looking at this cell:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1X-22-2v-12c..._Batteries&hash=item2a205f9b83#ht_1845wt_1396
but it seems to good to be true. 5AH 24V for only 43$?

Could someone fill me in on Li-Po's? I'm looking for a 5AH~ 24V cell. I tried google, but I couldn't find any clear answer on quality cells other than Rhino cells.

You can get a good idea if a li-po capacity is close by
taking the physical dimensions and finding the volume.

In this case the volume is 438,080 mm3.

For example here is a good similar low priced battery
and it's volume is 3876600 mm3.

HobbyKing R/C Hobby Store : Turnigy 5000mAh 6S 20C Lipo Pack

There is another criteria that is very important and that
is the Discharge Rate. The discharge rate of the battery
I linked to is 20C continuous or 20C X the Capacity (100A).

The higher the discharge rate the more expensive the
battery.

The eBay one you linked to has a Burst discharge rate
of 15C which would indicate a 10C continuous discharge
rate 10C X 5000mAh (50A)

It all depends on what you are using it for...

I use 5000mAh 22.2 Volt 40C batteries to fly my 93"
wingspan Piper L4 Cub swinging a 22" propeller.

So the cell on ebay would be close to the claimed capacity then?

I'm probably only going to need 20A continuous discharge at the most so 10C is perfect for me. I looked at hobby king before, and the cells are priced good but the shipping costs are 20$~
