I am surprised that nobody here is staring at his screen with his remaining good eye. Maybe the authorities couldn't shut down this forum but they sure can make owning a class IV laser very illegal. And maybe that would include the n2 laser but as they say when lasers are outlawed only outlaws will have lasers.

The truth of the matter is homeland security takes a big interest in laser and high voltage forums probably more than drug forums.  What if you accidentally pointed your laser at a plane and about a year later the FBI are knocking at your door.

All they would have to do is get a warrant for the server logs of this site find out whose ip is posting then get a warrant from your isp to find out whose ip address that is and the server logs show you buying all sorts of electronic parts and lasers they will definitely be able bamboozle a judge into signing a search warrant for your property seize the laser and get a confession out of you or interview people you know and even get a indictment on you.

With todays terrorism laws the burden of proof is even lower than for a non terrorist crime such as murder. almost every DA will savor frying a patriot terrorist and nothing but the most expensive lawyer will you have a snowball chance of ever getting justice.
all i am saying is be very carefull you are being watched!!

If you feel this way, go tell it to other laser forums, because here, we are all safe (hopefully) and we aren't stupid enough to point a laser at a plane.

even if we did point a green laser at a plane, assuming it were at 27, 000 feet (which is kind of low for a cruising airplane). And you had a freak green laser that had a .5 mrad, the dot (not really a dot anymore) would be more than 4 meters across. and I'm not positive, but i don't think that causes blindness or eye damage or anything. And thats also assuming the laser magically curves around the nose of the plane straight into the pilot's eye.

but i'm not that stupid, so that wouldn't even happen

and how does this have to do with terrorism?

and by the way, I have 2 good eyes. Just thought I would let you know
about the plane thing...:

My math teacher is a retired air force pilot and commercial airline flyer. (lol lots of jobs) I asked: would a pilot get blinded if someone pointed a laser at the airplane? He answered:

IF:
The guy had a VERY powerful laser that would reah the cockpit still having lots of power,
Had pinpoint aim and got it into the cockpit
the laser was powerful enough so that it had enough blinding power once through the thick glass
the laser was focused greatly so that its still a dot way up there
The pilot happened to be leaning over all the equipment looking down at the ground from the glass
He happened to bee looking in the exact dot of the laser
He does not flich or shut his eye once he sees a green flash
Stares at it

Then the pilot will suffer eye damage or will be blinded either permanently or temporarily

the chances: god knows how slim

yea...

I get the impression here that lasers are casual toys as if they cannot do any harm. Laser diodes are tiny and give the impression that becuase they are so small it couldn't possibly hurt you. I find the reckless abandon for safety appalling and hope one of you F#cks mess up and get private ownership of Class 3 and 4 lasers banned with penalty of death and a huge reward for turning in laser owners.

you wish you were this kid
