Here's an excerpt from The Matrix: Reloaded

The Oracle is like God, in that she is omniscient. Neo is "the one", like us humans, asking her questions about his path to salvation.

The Oracle: Candy?

Neo: D’you already know if I’m going to take it?

The Oracle: Wouldn’t be much of an Oracle if I didn’t.

Neo: But if you already know, how can I make a choice?

This to me, further affirms the point of how religion is apocryphal and unsubstantiated. Christianity and Islam both say that God is omniscient (all knowing) just like the Oracle. Additionally, they say that we all have free will (ability to make choices). But if God knows all then we cannot make a choice because the outcome is already known, therefore this system of God being omniscient and humans having free will collapses.

If we are going by the GOD of the Bible. In Genesis we read " GOD bought all the animals to Adam to see what he would name them" . Now for this to be true GOD did not know what names Adam would chose. How can this be if GOD knows everything? Answer, Before the fall, GOD knew all the "possibilities" but not decision, because man was free to chose. After the fall GOD does know what happens because we also read "he that sins is a slave of sin". So all one would have to do is know the master and you know what the slave will do. This is my understanding, hope it helps.

Religion is held as being closer to "God" than other things, wrong! They are simply belief systems, no higher or lower than any other. If you want to find "God" you don't need to be part of a religion, forget them unless you like socializing on the beliefs they hold, or just want a social life wrapped into one.

I see this as a discussion about culture and human nature more than religion. Religious communities for a lack of a better analogy are very different through the eyes of an introvert like myself vs an extrovert. We cannot agree on many things but in the big scope we are meant to compliment each other if we are all to come full circle. My POV. I expect some to see it another way. What I take from the exchange will make my argument stronger the next time around.

Religion is far more about us, than it is about God, probably like .999999999999 percent about us.

The Matrix is a movie/film/fictional story, right?

Very well said Alaskan, very well said indeed

Yeah but it contains so much philosophy its amazing. Here is another example of great philosophy by the movie with Agent Smith's excerpt on the belief that humans are not mammals, but viruses.

Agent Smith: I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species, and I realised that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment; but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply, and multiply, until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer on this planet, you are a plague, and we...are the cure.

The Matrix is one of my favourite movies (mostly the first one), I used to spend hours reading about the philosophy and symbolism in it, and different peoples takes on that. Very interesting IMO.

Yeah it is a very VERY sophisticated plot. I fly frequently around the US about once a month and I watch the Matrix series every time I travel. I still do not understand it fully but here is a video which I think explains it well.

everything is true except the fact that there is a hole in this logic in that the first "the one" could have programmed agent smith as the control when the first "the one" was first introduced into the matrix

and this one which explains how the Matrix has no real escape haha, I believe the first one moreso than this one.
