I didn't have to look anywhere. My tuition paid for that gold minaret. :D

Dude no freakin way, a fellow UT grad???? How long ago were you there? It might be totaly different now. They just finished adding a new dorm building next to amscott, redid Martinez and now they are moving the pool to the beach volleyball courts and making a nice plaza or something there. They said they are turning the old pool into a parking garage but as you probably know thats a joke

Yeah its changed a ton then! Downtown is ridic now! Every building is 20+ stories tall minus the courthouse lol

I loved the area and the school so I am very happy with my choice.

BTW what dorm rooms where here when you went to school. interested to know how much they've grown. now we have Vaughn, Urso, Smiley, Stadium (recently renamed to Morsani), Res Com, Austin, Straz, Brevard, Boat House, McKay and the new dorm called Residence Hall 7 (aka waiting for a huge donation)

We had only 4. The only name I recognize from your list is McKay. The others were probably renamed.

You will love this answer.

Two of them were for the girls, and two of them were for the boys.

Yup, there were no co-ed dorms. There was one 10 story dorm that had boys only on the first 9 floors and girls only on the 10th floor.

It had 1 automatic elevator, that we frequently overloaded and broke it. Then everyone had to walk the stairs until they fixed it. And 1 old manual elevator. The students were hired to run it during peak times and at night "when they turned off the automatic elevator for security reasons".

I was one of those students. Made quite a few $ letting boys off on the girls floor so they could "visit" with their girlfriends at night. And picking them up the next morning. The doors to the stairs from the 10th were alarmed, so the only way down was the elevator. :D

WOW, that is classic! So much has changed since then. Oh and let me guess, you had a football team back then too or was after they canned them?

I know one thing that hasnt changed.....they still have the Babe Ruth's home run marker outside of the college of business. Although not sure if the college of business was there when you attended.

@Blaster, alright just let me know either way

Well one thing hasnt changed......the issue with space! Freshman and transfer students need to get their paperwork in ASAP or risk the chance of being housed in the Howard Johnson downtown. They've done this for the past at least 4 years but im guessing many more. They didnt renew their contract with the HoJo this year since Res Hall 7 is completed but if they let in more students than they have room for, which they normally do, people will be SoL!!!!

Parking is yet another space issue. They have two large garages (Thomas and West) but it seems with commuters there is not enough parking space. Thomas is always filled since its closer to some parts of campus and smaller. I parked in West last year since its right across the street from where I lived and it has more space but on the top floor. Problem is, they let freshman have cars and as im sure you are aware, most kids are out of state so their parents want them to have a car and a large number of students now are spoiled rotten by their parents. Now I was spoiled too but not like them and I am grateful for my parents and how they raised me. Students today have brand new BMW, Mercedes, Infiniti, Porsche, Nissian GTR, Range Rovers and this one kid has a freakin LAMBO (well to be fair he technically has 10 cars and all of them are ridic expensive!!! Plus his license plates are Qatar0 through Qatar9......wonder where he is from )

Anyways, they also go out and get trashed EVERY night and get horrible grades. I myself rarely ever drank since i was too busy studying and working my butt off! None of them work during school and get everything paid for by their parents. Not complaining so if it sounds like that, its not how its intended. I wouldnt have changed my college experience for anything! i enjoyed working my butt off during school, not so much the studying but hey i got it done. i have to pay my loans off now but you know what, i dont care. know why, i worked my butt off, graduated and now have a job! thats success IMO. couldnt be happier but yeah things have changed at UT.

BTW was that football team the Bucs? If so find it odd that USF can have their football team but UT cant have one. i guess thats politic for you

thanks for all the congrats guys! I really appreciate it :D
