The statement is couched with multiple insults and meant to evoke an emotional response. It is also difficult to address as it isn't based entirely in fact.

One thing it is not, is subtle, and that is precisely the point. Trolls aren't meant to be very subtle. If they were, this thread wouldn't be here.

Oh but they are. An ego-centric person is one who views the world through the lens of their own skewed perspective.(Drawing a blank but there is a specific term to describe this, it's been a while since I opened a book on psychology.) Often unable to distinguish the subjective and objective information around them.

Some measure of egocentric behavior is natural to all, but what is this behavior if not the promotion of self interest? And what is "self" if not ego?

Look at how he neatly sidesteps the issue :bowdown: How he insinuates the premise of my statement to be wrong, without actually offering any argument to support such a position. Instead he offers conceptually unrelated simplifications.

Some commonplace "facts". A person is typically defined by his actions. As such a person who drives, can be called a driver. A person who fights fires, is a firefighter, and so on. A person who trolls is a troll.

A person who commits the same offense time and again is a repeat offender.

A person who helps a junkie support his habit is an enabler.

See if he didn't want to be drawn into the discussion, he could have taken his own advice (that he's given out many times - note the hypocrisy:shhh and simply ignored the previous post.

Instead he presents his response in address to everyone else, so as to appear to be above it.

Of course I do. After all look at how he ends every single post with "Peace,".

He is correct, there is no confrontation here, but here is the basis for a much needed discussion, to clarify some matters.

Then I decided it wasn't worth the effort.

Incidentally, the "Peace" is for the world, not my communicative partner
It is agape rather than personal
It is not a signature file
I type it at the end of EVERY email, PM, and post I write
(even my professional ones )

Your apparent challenge is the concept that there are no "issues."

Serving as an example for an object lesson to the membership has very little to do with you

I gave the explanation
You responded with proof of my example
I explained how it worked
You tried to escalate it
I dropped it
Now you're trying to keep it going

Quite often the vets simply "live with" one another

That's what I'm doing

When grown-ups have a disagreement, it is NOT always necessary to

You must have mis-typed. If there were "no issues" I wouldn't have bothered to begin with.

The issue is you have double standards where a specific member is concerned. I am not the only one that feels this way.

This is ok though. It's your prerogative as a mod, and I can only assume it's ok'd by c0ld. His forum, his rules.

Where I do take issue is that these rules are not clear, yet you are tasked with enforcing them, and do enforce them.

So I keep asking you to spell it out, in the hopes that after you would stick to them.

Unfortunately I doubt that will happen and presume you will either ignore my post, or once again sidestep the issue with some statement about moderation being an art form, and shades of grey. (Or something to this effect.)

That's also the reason I'm taking this so far. It bothers me that another great asset to this community may be gone because of trolling.

Nevermind the people who are still here, but stick only to PM's so as to avoid being trolled and neg repped out of the blue.

wow you really are not thinking jeff is the guy that got himself banned for trolling as well. this is not a clean cut issue one is not right and one is not wrong both members are at fault

That's bothersome, I was pleased to see the topic of this thread before I started reading through and before it went as offtrack as it has :yabbem: I hope he comes back soon before everyone starts killing one another....
