today, i bought an "Easy Transfer Cable for Windows Vista". i installed the software and tried it out. it didn't work. after hunting around on their web site, i found out that it wont work with windows vista 64 bit, which is what my laptop has. walmart won't take it back, so i am stuck with a 40 dollar p.o.s. and still have 40 gigs to transfer from my old computer to my new fancy laptop.

i hate vista, but i had no other choice. i wasn't able to get a laptop earlier in the year, you cant by windows xp, and you cant by a new computer with xp.

ps, i also hate mac.

i hate pre built computers. i think its a way better deal to build them, and for abot 1/3 for the price. i just build them for gaming though, but as far as vista goes i think its the suk! bigtime. the stores are also stopping or have stopped the production of Xp. so were going to be forced onto it either way. unless you use linux or something, or your a pirate.... lol

you build your own laptops? I'd like to see that.

Anyways, Charlietown, vista is a giant heaping steaming pile of excrement, and that "vista ez transfer cable" is just a cashgrab to sell $1 usb cables for $40... You could have just used a firewire cord, a network cable, wifi, infrared, an external drive, burned a cd, or plugged in an ipod to copy your files.

By the way, if you have a copy of XP laying around from one of your previous computers, you're legally allowed to downgrade vista to xp.. here's more info on that: http://download.microsoft.com/downl...cbd-699b0c164182/royaltyoemreferencesheet.pdf

update!!! i fixed the problem. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) i used some different software. the software i was tring to use at first is corupted or something. now, i can not only use the usb cable, but i can also use a wireless network.
