I finally recieved my disco light after a month, happily take it into my room and plug it in, The when i switched it on, there was a loud pop, and just now i saw the label on the light, and it said 110V 60hz. Here in australia, or power is 230V at 50hz. I AM SO ANNOYED HOW THIS GUY TAKES A FREAKING MONTH TILL HE POSTS THE THING, THEN I FOUND OUT HE SENT ME ONE WITH THE WRONG POWER RATING. GAH GRRRR, this guy better get his ass moving and replace it, or i'm going to get ebay ang paypal to shove freaking fireworks up this guys @$$, and light em all at the same time. Another thing that bothers me is that he takes forever for him to respond to his emails, and to call him would cost me a fortune. Although greg has suggested i could use skype, anyone tried this? I'm going to go write a very very long email to this guy :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

Ouch that has to suck, Didnt know power is diff in australia, would be bad if somone from the u.s. took a trip over there lol i envision lots of broke electronics.

Hopefully the next one will work and be the right power, To have it break after waiting a month :(

thanks man ;) well usually there is a switch that you can select your voltage from, but not on this light :mad: Anyways SenKat is being a really nice guy(as usual), and he is going to try help me out, thanks a heap man!

PPHHHEWWW!!! I opened up the fuse holder, and whatdya know, the fuse has been blown into lotsa little pieces. So tommorow, my dad is gonna buy a 240V to 110V converter, and hopefully the light will still work. WOW i am so relieved now!

Rasel, The guy sent him the wrong power to start with,

Good thing it had a fuse in it hopefully the light still works.

well yes, it was partly my fault that i plugged it in, but the guy that sold it to me needs to wake up. I am desperatly hoping that it is ok, because i really don't wanna send it back, considering how long it took the first time.

Where is he from? Austraila? Then it's kinda "not smart" from him. But the US? Then why would you blame him? Only because he didn't know Australia has a different voltage than the US (I'd assume the US as shipment took considerably long and phoning him would be expensive)? So before any of you judge him, think of that.

Also, where's the fun in getting a Step-down transformer? The real challenge would be to try and make it 22V compatible! Or see if you can load the flash tube with 220V too, so you'd get 4x power!!!

flash tube?? This is a light that uses a standard halogen bulb, and is called an "intelligent light" in the lighting world. You can't really just go and hook up any power supply to it, it is very sensitive in power requirements because it uses steppers, and LOTS of circuitry. The shipping was fast, taking only 4 days to get here, but it took the guy a month to actually send it, and i do not want to wait another month, so hopefully this converter will work, or i will have to send it back, and put up with all that waiting all over again. I told the seller i needed the european version, but he still managed to send me the wrong one. If i had the choice again, i would not have bought from this guy.

well its dead, but upon opening it up, it appears i only blew a capacitor on the light bulb circuit. I am trying to find the value of the cap, but searching doesn't turn up any values, if anyone knows what it is, i will be very grateful!the number on it is 07D181k, and it is a small blue ceramic type. Here is some pics of it. See the black ring around the blue capacitor?

I dont think this is a capacitor. It is more likely a varistor - a protective element against exessive voltages.

umm, it is a cermaic capacitor, 180 picofarads, +-10% tolerance, and it has shortcircuited THEREFORE the fuse blows dude, it might have been a varistor but evidence says otherwise :p

no I am wrong.
it is a varistor.
but, it has capacitance, therefore, it has the potential to shortcircuit when its broken and therefore, did and blew teh fuse.
