After watching the video of the guy free climbing the top of that high tower, I remembered a video my professor showed the class. I posted the link in the other thread. So I made this thread so the video is not hidden and to practice embedding .

YouTube - High power line workers (V.2 Better Quality)

Still don't know how to embed

You're welcome.
Nice video by the way.
That is a scary job.... I won't be able to do it... It scares the hell oput of me making valve amplifiers wich no one one passes 350volts... I can't imagine how does it feel walking over 10kV cables. Amazing.

I have worked with 34.5kv and it scares the hell out of me! :scared:

I have seen the guy on a helicoper working on some of the 365kv lines that go across NV and ID, I thought they were f*cking nuts!

@Flaminpyro I have seen that vid before and every time I go by a sub station I think about it! I would like to see that in person, just not real close.

Nice video, and the job looks cool.:)
I have no idea if it is done like that in Denmark, it would be worth looking for.

I guess he work back at the power plant on windy days.

Once you understand how the lines work it isn't actually that dangerous, much safer working up there then it is working on a bucket lift.

Piro I've seen that before. Do you know why the arcs go up? I think it's because there hot.

Yeah, just the heat they generate drags them up.

Climbing on the lines, although scary, is perfectly safe like that. The high voltage would be the least of your worries. Unless someone decided to get a bucket lift to try get you down :D

Yep your right it's the heat, that is what causes the arc to rise on a Jacobs ladder ;)

I think that was part of an IMAX movie a while back. I remember watching something like that at an IMAX theater.

Hello, we have the same insights about that high voltage transmission line work, so scary job and very dangerous. Even me I can’t afford to risk my life for that kind of job. That video really amazed me...
