Beleve it or not I have been on here since 11:00AM this morning and just was able to read this thread.
Thanks Bobhaha and jaycey I tryed what you suggested and it uninstalled and then was picked back up upon restart then it tryed to load drivers and gave me an error message saying it couldn't load them or something like that, so I tryed going on line to update the drivers and it said I have the latest version. this computer is getting updates all the time at will ? for the operating system.it was late when I tryed it and I just went to bed after, sorry about not getting back.
I wish I had the original disc that came with this computer here.
I'm thinking of buying or getting a new operating system like XP or something befor this happened I don't care for this one.
What ya think...

What was the original OS of your laptop ?

Yes, XP is still the better choice, cause both Vista and Vienna (7) are a load of crappy things glued together with bugs (just making them some compliments :p :D) ..... but, before to switch from them to XP, search for ALL the possible drivers for your specific model, cause some companies, paid from Micro$oft (who said HP ? :eg:), don't post on their sites the needed drivers for XP also if they have them, and, you know, there's literally A LOT of possible drivers for laptops .....

Also, there is the possibility that you need to take out the HD from the laptop and destroy the partitions connecting it to another PC via an usb interface, using an external partition manager, cause the filesystem used from Vista/Vienna mark the disk in the way that XP is no more able to manage or delete those partitions ..... it happened to me in some cases only, but still happened, so is a possibility ..... and again, for some brands, you need to turn off the "native sata" mode for the HD in the bios, where instead for other brands, they took off this option from the bios, so you need to download the sata drivers of your chipset and integrate them in the XP disk with nlite, otherwise XP cannot see the HD .....

Are we still talking about the same thing?? The problem is that windows can not detect the CD/DVD drive. HDD is working fine.

suggestions here and not getting any where I went to see EzPk0970, he's a computer whiz and it only took him
about 10 min or less of punching keys and now I can see and use my HD, HURRAY :thanks: and also my
computer seems to be running faster !
I'm not sure what he did but he truly has magic fingers, 3 cheers and a + rep for Eric :D
