I need a new set of headphones. I listen to about an hour of music every day, and the constant wind-unwind of the headphones around the ipod combined with the sheer number of hours destroys these things pretty quickly. I'm getting sick of not having music for a week while I wait for a chance to get headphones.

Where is the best place to get cheap headphones that will last a decent amount of time (3 months?) and sound good so I can order a bunch, or better, some really durable headphones that WILL NOT break?

I carry my ipod around. Only earbuds work. The apple-style (not the in-ear) are preferred but I'll take what I can get.

I'd buy some better quality noise-isolating headphones. They're usually in-ear, but there are some nice soft covers for that, and they produce far better sound than the iPodish kinds. Plus, since they're noise-isolating, you get a better musical experience, and you can use less volume, so you can save your ears some damage.

I had some Shure E2Cs and they had some pretty thick and durable wiring, and the construction as a whole was good. Came in a nice hard case too. Not cheap ($140 or so), but considering I've had my current headphones (I upgraded from the E2Cs, so I'm talking about these) for about half a decade, I'm glad I invested in good headphones then so I could enjoy them all this time. Though I'm using headphones from a different brand now, the Shures were nice because some of the replacement parts, notably the ear inserts and stuff, were pretty cheap and comfortable. Decent bass and other sound too. These SCL2s could be nice too; only $100.

Buy to invest and it'll cost you less over time than lower quality items you replace frequently, and you'll get to enjoy better quality the whole time too.

I'd have to agree with Badger. I have had a pair of SE115's for about two years now and I can't imagine going back to those awful ipodish style buds. If you can trust yourself not loosing them then I would HIGHLY recommend them. Bose stores will let you try their ear buds, I don't really like the fit, but the sound quality is good and they're cheaper at about $80.
