Hard drive problems

I am switching to another hard drive because the one i have right now has 40mb left on it. I have to format the drive but each time i try to half way through it fails. Any idea why?
btw i have vista

You could try using Disk Management in the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) to repartition it first. You may already know how to do this, but if not find the My Computer icon, right-click on it and select "manage". When the console appears, select "Disk Management" from the pane on the left. When the Disk Management window comes up, you should be able to right-click on the drive and tell it to delete the partition. Then you can create a new partition and try to format it again. If that doesn't work, most likely the drive is faulty..

If you have 2 computers you can take it out and place it in the other computer.. then it will show up as :F or :E

Use this program to fix the hard drive
It is very simple to use.

Burn the file to a disk. Then restart your pc and boot from that disk. If you want to use english then just press enter everytime it asks you a question. Then the Program will boot up using the live cd version of Linux. From there it's all on you. Just don't format the wrong hard drive.

Yep, puppy linux should include Gparted.. just check around in the menus, it should be labeled "gparted" or "partition editor" or something similar.

If it doesn't include it, then you should be able to download it for free. Or you could just use that link and burn it on to a cd like I said. Either way, it's still relatively easy.
