Sounds like its coming together ^^

I finished my semi-auto-mechanism..mounted the holder for the booster...mounted the battery-pack.

Yeah I am. But I have some projects to work on first. I'll be reading and waiting for your CGS :)

well, If I could get a working cap charger for my CG I'd make it ASAP. Unfortunatly, I don't know where to start, what to buy etc. :( That let ME down, and I'm building low powered lasers to selling to maybe new hobbists etc, that will give me the money to continue the CG.

Well...solder a ZVS...rewind a flayback transformer (number of layers and AWG can be found on the net) then just measure the output and adjust til it fits ^^

A ZVS including transformer cost maybe 10-20 $! You have to hang in and get things done...quitting is never an option...at least for me ;-) You have to go on and try stuff out. If Plan A fails, you have to come up with Plan B and C.

Oh well.. I 'm not quitting. I'm thinking
Whats the ZVS max power? 100W? :)
Can I stack in parallel? :p

100W xD who the hell told you that? Its zero voltage switching...almost no heat will be generated. If you make it right, the FETs wont even get warm. So it depends on your FETs and the transformer of course.

100W wouldnt be that bad actually...1000 J in 10 sec.

No one told me nothing. I wanted a 400W (800v 0.5A) transformer but I realized it is impossible. 400W should charge my caps fully in 1 second, 200W 2 seconds, 100W 4 seconds :)

What ZVS do you suggest me? Being cold isn't really needed, as space isn't hard to get. I have some heatsinks ready to use SIR!
btw.. We've talked about fets I have some.. they are from an old UPS.

I was thinking about that when I read this:

"This thing will push a few 100W through the flyback if you let it."

I would need to rewind the flyback, right? Any tips/recommendations?

Bullshit. Flybacks arent made for such wattages...even the "bigger" ones.

Have to workout...google for transformers...should be some drivers for coilguns on the net. Will help you as soon as I get back on!

two flyback drivers driving two flybacks with the outputs parallel. Would work? :p
I have 55v mosfets and 14mOhms (rds on). :p
as the circuit needs 150mO or less, I think mine are pretty good for this. I'll be buying the parts when I go to the electronic store. Btw, 11v @ 140A discharge will work fine for the charger right?

Ok, so instead of fabricating the C channel enclosure for the 2nd stage, I have put together a "bank" of capacitors in parallel on a board. This way I might be able to start testing the 2nd stage tonight. ^^ I will post some results if all goes well. ;-)

Edit: this is ~1150uF/2nd stage and 2250uF/1st stage.

Leo: Start simple. The more stuff you wanna squeeze in, the more errors you might make...

Milli: So night is over...did you test it? Cant wait to see a video.
