Things aren't gonna be pretty when Hillary is elected. Expect a full blown panic 2.0. Better stock up on guns that you'll want now, before things get totally crazy.

I agree that you shouldn't have a gun right now but you will be 21 soon enough and can think about it then. There are plenty of ways to kill yourself without a gun, I can immediately think of six ways and there are more than that, don't anyone ask me to post them, you don't need a gun to kill yourself.

You might want to try air guns for now, they are lots of fun, and there are even two 1911 CO2 pistols you can buy.

My father had a Colt 45 1911 and a Smith & Wesson .38 special, I remember I probably wasn't 5 years old yet when he first showed them to me as he had done with my brother and sister when they were that age. He went into complete detail about how they worked and the safety and how to load it and chamber a round and he showed me different ammo and explained what they are capable of. He wanted to be able to leave loaded guns laying around without us being curious about them and doing something stupid and it worked. I didn't fire those guns until I was 9 years old, I didn't like the .45 it had too much recoil for a 9 year old, but I did like the .38 special, I had no problem with that. I had fired a 22 rifle before that and later a Savage over under 30-30 over 20 gauge, I often thought about buying one of those but never did. I bought my first handgun when I turned 21, I sold it several years later when I temporarily moved out of state. At the the time I had a brother-in-law married to my sister who was a police officer, later a detective, I didn't know at the time but he thought I bought the gun to kill a certain family member, he took me to the police shooting range and tought me gun safety and wanted to see how well I could shoot and he was trying to get a feel for what my intentions were and why I bought the gun but I wasn't aware of this at the time, I found out several years later from my sister. He did have good reason to think what he was thinking, but really it was just a misunderstanding.

I later purchased a Taurus .38 special and later had to sell it when I was unemployed, I wish I could have kept it. I have purchased 4 guns since then, I won't bother with the details. I do think that most everyone who can legaly own a gun should.

The little hand cranks are legal, at least by federal law, BATFE and in my state.
Now some states may ban them but not here, the thing is you have to crank like hell, they only do 4 shots per revolution, now if it was 10 per that would be better, but it's not all that practical, a good trigger is really what you want.

They have entertainment value but that's about it.

Mine are BMF activators.

The shaft has 4 bumps/cams lifts on it and you select a shim from the pack and as you crank you can feel it get tight, so you can feel when it's about to fire, with a good KIDD or VOLQUARTSEN trigger you can shoot just as fast and more accurately.

You can buy the little cranks here: BMF ACTIVATOR

I super agree. Airguns are just as enjoyable as firearms IMO. Much cheaper to shoot, safer, the same ballistic challenges as firearms, and useful for hunting aswell. I own this airgun

RWS Diana RWS 34P Pro Compact. Air rifles - PyramydAir.com

I've taken many squirrels and bunnies with this rifle, it's great within 35 yards and the risk of damaging anything beyond the target is far less than typical firearms. You want to use exactly as much power as you need and no more.

CCI CB zimmer patrone or Aquila no powder are low power 22 that are only 20 grains and around 450 to 700 FPS, they will take small game and are as quite as an air gun, maybe quitter.

These are whisper quiet and penetrate about a 1/2 inch into a 2x4, the CCI CB longs are a little louder like a good air gun pop but they will go almost through a 2x4, pretty impressive really and if you want to take rodents in the city they are perfect for not alarming neighbors. * OBEY YOUR LOCAL LAWS

YES Air guns are a lot of fun and good to learn on.

But when this comes out, if accuracy is good I will have to get one.

Red, as I never did much research on that crank its good to know that it could get frustrating slow. Also it could be maby I got a defective one but my only 50 round banana clip tends to make ruger jam so I can't seem to think the drum clip would do right? Ammo has come a long way and the last time I bought .22s I stocked up on CCI stingers around 10 or 15 years ago. They seemed to be the best then?

Hap, like PI. and the Duke have said I have alot of fun with my 1 shot crank in half pellet rifle. Some thing to think about

Default Re: Gun Discussion

CCI is the best feeding ammo in a 10/22 but stingers are a 1/2mm too long on the case, they work but I wouldn't use them for rapid fire.

The old 10/22 had a metal trigger housings, the new ones use a polymer one and I shim my mags forward or they can jam.

THEY CAN ACTUALLY SLIP BACKEARDS AND TIP OUT OF THAT BUTTON/PIN POCKET UP FRONT CAUSUNG THE MAG TO TIP IN THE WELL AND BE OUT OF ALIGNMENT, SO SHIM THEM FORWARD WITH PLASTIC FROM CCI BOX TOPS AND SUPER GLUE

The green paint means the mag is shimmed tested and pedigreed.

The ruger BX mags are good as are the helical feed 10 round ruger factory mags.

Buttler creek hot lips and steel lips run good after I shim them, but the 10/22 likes to run clean, and the ammo dirties it up in a few hundred rounds.

There's a lot if fancy stuff you can get like the tear drop 50 rounder with the rubber belt, but it's a 22 and I put that money into 556 and 762 platforms.

--------------------------------------------------------------
I shave the top edge of the shim for easy mag change outs.
--------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That round but short button is all that aligns the front, it needs to stay forward.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't worry about the backs, the round hollow center catch still fits above the shim and holds that nub.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was thinking of getting this CO2 1911 around next week or when money allows. Retails for around $100 but a good entry into firearms I suppose and safety

RedC, OK then its a shimming I will do Wow did you come through with some pic's. I do remember that mag tending to lean but its bean like 10 years since iv'e shot that rifle and can't remember which way but I do know I felt I had to hold the mag while shooting. I see though that you have actual Ruger made banana clips and guessing those are the BX
Good to know about the stingers, I never loaded a 30 round clip with them as it was a waste of money just to shoot around "to me anyway".
I had worked QC years ago at a sheet metal panel manufacturing plant and used to take home all kinds of target metal sheet pieces and by far those stingers were the best even with the hollow tip.
Its been like 3 or 4 years since I last pulled a trigger and it was with my Mossberg. I dont belong to any clubs but my brother in law does and he's just to busy. I'm getting the itch though.
Hap, can you purchase that C02 in pistol form without a handgun permit?

On the topic of crank fire/rapid fire systems, has anyone tried any of those stocks from Bump Fire Systems? They're only made for AK/AR/Saigas from what I recall. I was tempted to get one if I ever get another AK/AR, but I have yet to know anyone that's tried one.

Then on the topic of air guns... If you want a more "play around" type of a gun, airsoft guns are a blast. I picked up an electric side folding AK designed airsoft for just over $100 that looks IDENTICAL to my Arsenal .223 AK. It's scary how similar they look/feel really!

Colt Commander CO2 Pistol. Air guns - PyramydAir.com

Alex just so you know, there are other air pistols with higher velocity, 325fps is a little on the weak side, not really but a little, I expect you will be satisfied with it if you never had one before. Pellet guns are safer, that gun fires BBs, when firing BBs be sure to always wear safety glasses (you should anyway) BBs will ricochet, if you fire directly at a wood wall for example, it may bounce straight back and hit you, this can be with considerable force and enough to loose an eye, so be careful.

There are no federal laws regulating air guns and 26 states have no laws, in California surprisingly the law is minimal, one of the places I would expect restrictions but no:

"California law prohibits the selling of air guns to persons under the age of eighteen. Also, it is prohibited to furnish an air gun to a person under age of eighteen of the minor’s parent or legal guardian. It is illegal to possess an air pistol or air rifle on the grounds of a public or private school in the grades K-12 without permission of the school’s principal.

It is also illegal to draw or brandish an air gun in a threatening manner. Openly displaying an air gun in a public place is prohibited. A person may not posses an air gun in the area of a public transit facility."

He can walk into a store and buy one and just show ID that he is over 18 and walk out with it, no paperwork at all, about the same here in Washington.

State laws change a lot, be careful about carrying one in your car.

In my state we can carry pistols in out cars loaded as long as it is in a holster and in plain view or the glove box, but with a permit you can carry it anywhere in your car that you want.

Rifles have to be unloaded in a car, but you can open carry a loaded rifle without a permit, pistols were that way but now you have to get the permit and they prefer you carry concealed as not to alarm idiot people.

I'm a white guy and I saw a black guy in his colorful cool street clothes standing by his 88ish Impala with the 22 inch wheels and the loud stereo with a pistol on his hip and do you know what I thought?

GOOD FOR HIM!, We may differ on everything else but we are together on our rights, freedom has to be for everyone.

Unless you're shooting these guys - H&N Excite Smart Shot .177 Cal, 7.4 Grains, Copper Plated Lead BBs, 500ct - air gun bbs

@ Hap

I'd push you towards one of these -
Crosman 2240 CO2 Air Gun
Crosman 1377C / PC77, Black. Air guns - PyramydAir.com
That colt will give the look and maybe feel of a firearm, which if that's what you're after great, get it. But the guns that shoot actual pellets are what you'll want if you're practicing hitting a target.

Just bought that gun I linked. Meh, not really my kind of thing. Good thing you can return it. I'm going to stick to lasers
