I'm still not seeing how a bandolier is more convenient at the range that a simple shells pouch on the belt.

The belt quick grab deals are fast for 3 gun comps, but I just go for fun and these hold a lot, I can pull them pretty fast, if I was shooting competition I would use the quick grab belt holders too.

As far as guns go the m-16/m-4 is one of the best for accuracy military battle rifles out there. Ak-47/74u are good guns for reliability for running full of crud. The accuracy of ak's are poor for accuracy. The Trevor is a decent gun, as well as a Kriss-vector. The best over all military battle rifle I have used is actually the HK G36 I had a chance to fire one while in the military and found that it had superb accuracy at 800 meters and was easy enough to let even the novice shoot handle it with ease. If your talking civilian rounds. 22 cal best over all rifle is the Ruger semi auto 10/22 beat the living shit out of them and they still run. I have a ten twenty two I probably put half a million rounds threw and only replaced the barrel once. next is the 22-250 and the savage arms is probably one of my favs. Accurate light and smooth. Next is the marlin model 94 30-30 lever action smooth and fun good deer rifle. Winchester model 1892-1894 and the 1902 are probably my favorite lever guns. John Browning sold those guns to Winchester. In all John sold 60 different guns to Winchester. He also sold a bunch to FN a french fire arm manufacture. Then he sold Samual Colt two iconic weapons the pistol 1905 and the 1911 which would become the most copied and most recognizable pistols in the world. He is also known for the 1908 BAR the 1919 30 cal machine gun and the 1918 MA2 heavy machine gun in 50 cal. I have lots of guns I love it would take me two hours to write them all

Cheers to that post Vortish, I've never fired a G36 but some European friends say it is great. My two beauties are the SCAR and the Kriss sbr. Someday I'd love to go to a gun range with the BAR. It would honor many family members greatly.

Wow, you got to fire a 1911 Colt Jeff! That has to be by far one of my favorite handguns out there, however too young to purchase one. I was actually thinking of getting one, and saw a Colt Commander for sale at a local gun store for around $639 which ain't too bad.

However, I do realize that I do tend to get depressed quite easily, and sometimes have strange, violent thoughts in my head. I would never act on them(and read online this is a symptom of OCD) and have realized that while I would most likely be a responsible gun owner, I would rather stick to lasers for now and avoid any problems.

The Tavors trigger is a linkage relocated deal as it's bullpup design requires and it is a little stiff, at least the last one I shot, otherwise I like it, but a 20 inch 556 barrel is worth it to me, even though I have many 16.5 inch barrels.

HAP you can rent many guns at ranges that you would never own, the Thompson 45 aka Chicago typewriter fires from an open bolt and when you shoot a lot that fraction of a second when you pull the trigger until you hear the bang seems like forever, and as much fun as a mp5 is to shoot, and they are fun, you will spend more time loading those 32 round sticks than you will shooting, but it's still worth doing.

As far as the idiot shooting his hand, familiarity breeds contempt, something us laser hobbyist can learn from as well, KEEP WEARING THOSE SAFETY GLASSES EVERYONE.

Holy smokes Vortish, if I haven't already, thank you for your service.
That is so many interesting guns. Some of those are pretty standard in military training but stuff like the grease gun and fal must be interesting to shoot.

Hab, like redcowboy said. Rent a gun at a range. Plus it's saves you the break down and cleaning! The 1911... Sorryyy guys not a fan of dove tail safeties!

Mm, the tavor trigger. Years ago when this rifle became available to the public this was a real issue as the gun came with a stock "combat trigger" this means during manufacturing they put no extra effort into smooth trigger design and reducing the weight of the pull. Let's be honest in a combat situation do you really want a 3.5lbs trigger pull no. (I'm sure some of you guys already know whst I'm talking about^^.
The Tavors IIRC was tooly and >8lbs.
Both Geissele and timney make high quality triggers for the Tavor now. I put my money on Geissele's 3.5lbs two stage. Phenomenal.
I was ond hair away from buying a lefty Tavor in FDE. But at the last second chicken out.

That's exactly what I told this guy with a table at the gunshow, he was selling super light glock trigger kits and I said, not a good idea except for target shooting.

Think about it, you hear a window break, you grab your pistol, your adrenaline is pumping, you really need more than a hair trigger for home use.

Agree, my home defense guns all have stock triggers. My Walter P99 has no safeties, Just a very tough trigger pull. With its tritium sights it is ideal for self defense imo.

My sister used to tell her new boyfriends to "go on into the house and make yourself at home, I'll be home in an hour"

That ended real quick when he tried to fiddle with the door and enter at 10:30pm. The dog was viciously barking and I was pointing a gun at him yelling who the F$&@ are you?!"
The kid stammered "Kara told me to come in"
I told him to knock first.

That's the thing people have said that to me and I always said nope; I'll knock first. I never just enter someone's home. I know many many people in Maine are friendly but they all own gun. Well except for dem liberals

Thank god we have castle doctrine and stand your ground here in Georgia, I keep my Mossberg pump full of 3 inch 00 buck.

Fifteen .33 cal lead balls doing 1290fps, it will only take 1 shot, god forbid I ever have to but if I do I want it done fast.

Yes I have nice guns, but if something gets taken into evidence I rather it be a 250 dollar shotgun than a 1200 AR. Sad to think that way, but it's also a good choice for residential use, I hope some moron with an AK is not using it for home defense in his apartment.

Default Re: Gun Discussion

My home gun is a Remigton 870 loaded with rock salt non lethal but hurts like hell dont ask how I know. Yea my home hand gun is a kimber 1911 with a match trigger and laser sight. I liked the travor but it was not my favorite bull pup. There is a aftermarket bullpup stock for the ar-15 which makes it fun to shoot. The zk-22 from the fromer redjack star Joe is fun for the ruger 10/22. Biggest man portable fire arm I have shot is the 20 mm Laghti finnish anti tank gun that was nuts. shot a lot of historical guns like the 6.5 Arisaka and the 6.7 as well. Tommy guns are fun shot thousands of rounds out them. Shot the Mark 134 mini gun that was a hoot. 6 guage shot guns hurt. so do 510 nitro express elephant guns. I think the number one historical gun was the stemgaver and luger but hey what do i know

I used to go to the machine gun shoot at knob creek range but I haven't been in a while.
The night fire and tannerite is fun, but I never shot the minigun, just the ammo for a short session is a 3 digit pricetag and it wouldn't last long.

Now I hate that I didn't rent a ride on a MG-42 at knob creek, because my places within 50 miles don't have it and I have always wanted to shoot that one, I don't know what the 7.92 ammo would cost today, but next time I go that's the one I want to ride.

The best deal is at a little place 40 miles north, they have a converted 10/22, it runs so fast the gunsmith had to put in a brass slow down drag plate.

If I rent it and the MP5 I can switch back and forth, they charge very little to rent the guns by the hour, but you have to buy their ammo.

Place in Lawrenceville called bullseye. Small place. I see their 10/22 is not listed, it's on the blink a lot. http://www.bullseyeindoorrange.com/

Like I had mentioned maby 100 posts ago on that ruger 10-22 have you seen the after market support for this rifle. Its has been mabey 20 years since iv'e looked but I remember seeing a round tommy gun type magazine to a hand crank to the trigger for full auto. I only got the 30 and 50 round banana clips but sure was tempted on all but it only seemed that I would be asking for trouble. Still my own personal favorite. You don't have to pay much to have fun.
