Minus the fancy optics, I have the same trio. Add to that an AR chambered for 7.62 X 39mm. All of my ARs are homemade with lower receivers machined from forgings on a CNC. I cranked out over a dozen of those lowers once I had the CNC program fully debugged. I prefer the M4 variants.

It is beyond belief, but then again all politicians are criminals, at least in the US anyway.

Absolutely absurd.

Why don't we try this one on for size... new law, every person entering a bar or any establishment that serves alcohol must have a specific form of ID... passport or license.

That way a database of drunkard can be built up, and they can be fined for disturbing the peace, public intoxication, and arrested for DUI should they be found in the vicinity of a car.

Oh... better yet. 100% of vehicular hit and run cases involve a car! Let's just charge everyone that owns a car in advance.

Really hoping that was just a joke though.

Also wonder how many armed guards senators have around them... let's do away with her criminals

LOL

Its so silly, instead of trying to say "Its illegal to have a hammer/tire iron, knife, gun, bow & arrow, poison, train platform, because you might try to kill someone with it"...

WHY DON'T we just make MURDER Illegal?!?!

I think that should cover it, no?

You guys miss the point of gun ban issues. Most of the other items you list that can be used to kill were never and have never made with killing in mind or design. Guns are for killing nothing else and why they remain a target.

Excellent choice of items to use for your point, thank you. All of the things you posted are to make the gun user more "deadly". If your still unsure those are practice targets
Guns "we're" designed to kill if I'm wrong please correct me?

Sigh.

Look, bows and arrows, knives, axes, etc, were ALSO designed to kill...and, over time, people used them for whatever they wanted to use them for.

There's a term called functional fixation, which describes the inability to imagine a use other than the obvious for something...such as not using a hammer to drive a nail, and, instead, perhaps using it as a paper weight, etc.

So, just because a knife was ORIGINALLY designed to kill with doesn't mean that we can't ALSO use it to slice bread, or throw at a target, or cut rope, or whatever.

Same with hammers. They were designed to KILL. They were a WEAPON. They were later adapted to drive nails, which were not invented until many thousands of years later.

So, just because a hammer was designed to kill doesn't mean we should ban hammers. Just like guns, they can be used for other things. IE: HOBBIES.

If we let society ban the hobbies WE don't feel an affinity for, eventually, YOUR hobbies fall into that group, and, by then, its too late, the precedent is established.

IE: Why do you need a laser? They are designed to kill, the military uses lasers as weapons, you are not allowed to have one. You don't NEED a laser.

And so forth....its a slippery slope.

Starlight makes a good point, but so teej does too by pointing out lots of things can be used to kill people.

However, bringing up target shooting is kind of a moot point...target guns like those are indeed real guns that can indeed kill people. While that may not be their prupose, the purpose of the guns I own arent for killing people either, they are for sport. Think of it this way; you can own a tank without rampaging around killing people- and tanks most definitely weren't made for sport!

Right, but the POINT is that just because a target gun CAN kill, doesn't mean that "its for killing and nothing else".

The POINT is that shooting is a HOBBY, just like lasers are.

Do you want legislation that bans lasers because you don't NEED them? Just LIKING THEM is not enough, your OPPONENTS don't care if you LIKE them, just that THEY DON'T.

Guns we're the discussion. If people still used hammers to commit crimes in the magnitude they donwith guns I'm sure that will be addressed. I'm not dissing people using things out of the norm just thinks guns are serious and need to be treated different.
I myself are petrified of guns I actually will leave any area or place if I know or see a gun on someone. I honestly get nervous around them even when talking with police the gun on their side gives me major discomfort. I'll go through life never owning a gun and never needing one.

Would a CCW permit holder carry a hammer?

So, if I am petrified of lasers, and I need to leave if I see a laser, so, I don't want anyone to HAVE a laser, you think its OK if I lobby to get them banned?

Can you think of cases where a guy who HAD a CCW permit etc, used it to commit a crime?

The CRIMINALS don't CARE if the GUN is illegal, they're already fine with KILLING which is even MORE illegal.

So, the ONLY people who would STOP carrying are the ONE'S WHO OBEY THE LAW.

So, only the bad guys would have guns...because they don't care what laws you pass...and, they are HAPPY if the good guys can't carry guns, because it means THEY WIN.

When you say "I'll never need one", that's probably quite true, luckily. Of course, the people who DO suffer break ins, muggings, car jackings, etc...didn't think THEY'D ever need one either.

Its like car crashes...its always quite a surprise when they happen.

They do though, to some people. Probably not you of course. But, lets say you're car shopping, and can buy car A that has poor crash resistance, but great mpg, or, car B that has great crash resistance, but poor mpg.

If there's no accident, you'd want to be in Car A. If you pick A, but ARE in an accident, you might have wished to have picked car B.

You don't KNOW if you will though...so, you choose based upon your priorities at the time.

Its the same for those who carry weapons. They are essentially going for car B, even though, as far as they are aware, they will probably never be in an accident....but, are thinking that Car B, just in case, is better.

People who choose not to carry are choosing car A...because an accident seems an even more remote possibility to them.

If all the people who choose car A decide that they are nervous about being hit by those driving car B, and decide they want to ban car B because car B makes them nervous, is that fair?

That's gun control in a nutshell.

Why do you buy auto insurance?
Why do I (legally) carry a firearm?

A hammer is a tool. A screwdriver is a tool. a skillsaw is a tool. so are firearms. intent of use is NOT determined by the inanimate object, it is determined by the user of that object.

You don't like guns, they scare you... stay away from them.
you don't like people with guns, they scare you... you're an idiot and you SHOULD make every effort to stay away from them (mostly for thier sake).
But don't try to force your beliefs, phobias, etc. on me and I won't try try to force mine on you. if you do, you could stand a chance of finding out just how deadly a weapon a pencil can be. just say'in.......

if you feel the need for sure that is your "right" to. I on the other hand are not lobbing to ban anything if I mislead you, guns included.

no can't off the top of my head but a Google search I'm sure they exist.

premeditated murders is about the only ones fitting that category.

completely disagree. Millions of current legal gun owners in my opinion would stash guns if they ever became illegal. I will bet anything and everything I own on that!!!

a small percentage would have much effect on a random mugging car jacking break in whatever. I think that statistic is somewhere read it before. All gun owners I've ever seen don't "jump into defense mode" when they hear a bump in the night so I still feel they are overhyped.

your logic here could be used with almost any product you buy or for that matter every decision you make each day.

buy a cheap product and it malfunctions and it causes your death?

take the car it get in an accident and you die?

walk and get run over by a car and die?

stay at home and your house burn down and you die?

same answer as the quote above, could be applied to almost anything.
