Police consider whether to charge neighbor in fatal shooting of Loudoun teen - The Washington Post

Quote:
Loudoun County sheriff’s officials are reviewing 911 calls and interviewing friends of the teenager who was shot to death after he accidentally entered a neighbor’s home over the weekend.

Sheriff Mike Chapman said his office is working with the commonwealth’s attorney’s office in deciding whether to pursue charges or close the investigation. James Plowman, Loudoun’s chief prosecutor, declined to comment.

Caleb Gordley, 16, sneaked out of his home in Sterling after he was grounded for not cleaning his room. He went to a party with some friends, where he drank alcohol. About 2 a.m. Sunday, his friends dropped him off after the party, but Caleb wrongly entered the house two doors from his by climbing through a window.

The homeowner, Donald West Wilder II, heard his burglar alarm go off and confronted Caleb. He fired a warning shot and told the teenager to leave. When he didn’t, Wilder shot again, fatally striking Caleb, law enforcement officials said.
To me it's puzzling that there is even a consideration of whether to charge the homeowner.

Here's another interesting article:

Not surprising that NJ is rated as one of the worst states in terms of gun rights.

Now you know that you are supposed to either YELL for help, hide in the bathroom, or run away.

Peace,

**EDIT** -- I forgot, you're supposed to lock the bathroom door if you're going to hide there

I'm really not sure what the law is in NJ, but it's something I'll look into. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a requirement that you must first retreat from the confrontation.

It's kind of sad/funny - cops are told to always shoot to kill. Yet here again we have a guy who did just that, and they are considering charging him.

Now can someone explain this to me... I watching Alaska state troopers last night.

A guy was arrested for resisting arrest. I'd love to know how that plays out legally.

Sorry for the double post, but I find this to be very interesting.

I've been reading, and hearing first hand, about how there is a huge shortage of guns, ammo, and even gunpowder lately.

Then came across this today: Big Sis Refuses To Answer Congress On Bullet Purchases Alex Jones' Infowars: There's a war on for your mind!

Quote:
The DHS has purchased over 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition over the past year – enough to wage a 20 year plus war.
Quote:
Congressman Timothy Huelscamp revealed this week that the Department of Homeland Security has refused to answer questions from “multiple” members of Congress regarding its recent purchase of huge amounts of weapons and ammunition.
Now I realize this is a bit of a tinfoil area speculation, but buying up all possible weapons and ammo, would certainly be one way to remove these weapons from circulation, and remove potential opposition. Wouldn't it?

Meanwhile New York is trying to turn neighbor against neighbor... http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013...#ixzz2OArnmmTl

I was at the local gun shop a few days ago and the sheriff showed up to pick up some ammo. I brought up the subject of that last declared disaster and he confirmed that he ordered his deputies to not confiscate guns from anyone. He said he told them that if he caught any of them confiscating a weapon from a resident here that they would be fired. He said that the order to confiscate during declared emergencies had come from the Dept of Homeland Security. He also said that if the federal government ever ordered local law enforcement to confiscate guns from residents of this county, that he and his deputies would take up arms on the side of the public and fight along with us. Gotta love pro-gun local law enforcement. He said that the governor recently joined with a bunch of governors of other states and signed secession documents to declare that if the federal government tries to pass any laws that violated the states residents right to bear arms, that they would secede from the union. The sheriff also denied a request from DHS for a list of the names of all CCW permit holders in the county. He said that there is no law in place to force him to comply with that request. He even went as far as saying if such a law were to be passed, his CCW records safe might just have a fire ;-)
