Global Warming - Real Science?

This forum has members from all over the world who experience their local weather every day.
Question: Is it getting warmer where you are at?

Here in North Iowa, we had about two weeks of real summer but it was generally mild. My swimming pool never got warm. Now, in early winter, we have record cold and heavy snow fall. The summer of 2008 was maybe a little better but still not hot like in the past.
The climate of this little planet has changed forever but now MAN is being held responsible for these changes.
What did MAN do to end the last ice age in North America and cause the glaciers to go back to get more rocks?

My observation is that winters are colder (a tad) but snowfall has declined.

I welcome this "warming"

So where the hell is it???

It's been proven to be bad science over and over again, but the media doesn't listen. Too many large corporations get huge Gov. grants to "Go Green". It's all about money again... what a surprise!

Mike, you're right! The climate on this planet is not, and never has been static. Man cannot account for climate change. They proved over and over again, how CO2 levels rise AFTER the heat rises, not as a cause of the heat. Scientists have been hiding the latest data about the Earth's climate because is suggests that the Earth is actually COOLING. But they don't hide this data because they're evil, they hide it because they want to keep their jobs. Saying or thinking the "wrong" thing is a no no in the research world.

I'm not anti- Earth, I'm anti green.

We are installing solar and windmills, However my motivation is to NOT pay my electric bill anymore. (or at least reduce it a lot, there are a couple appliances here that take more power than a solar panel can produce.)

Some "Global Warmer Doooom sayers" are now reporting that global warming can manifest itself as a cooling trend! This is called "Hedging your bet". Now they can't be wrong. There is science, non-science and nonsence. Along with Y2K bug and Ozone hole, people with no education like to be scared by doom sayers.

there's a very good documental about it called "the big lie about the global warming" or something like that. Like they say there, I do believe in it, I just don't believe the humans are causing it!

Btw, here in Spain it has gone colder this year lol

This is true. In the past 3 years I've noticed that weather in Argentina is much more unstable than before, we don't have full seasons anymore, they're like a big mix.

I did a project on glacier data once. The North Cascades in Washington State have more glaciers than all the rest of the Lower 48 combined. Through fair science, with data being collected regularly, it has been proven that every single glacier in this park (many hundreds) are shrinking. Not even one is growing or even staying the same. New lakes are being formed, and the glacier ecosystem is dying off at a rapid rate. Ice worm densities are ower than ever. These glaciers are lower than they have ever been since mankind began recording history.

I think this whole global warming thing is mostly shenanigans. The plaent goes though goes through this stuff naturally. We may be helping it some though. I've always heard that they said the planet was going into an ice age sometime around the 60s/70s due to record lows...

It's gotten a lot colder over here in the UK, along the south coast where I am it's always pretty mild or raining but it's just snowed very heavily yesterday and today :)

Global warming is referred to the medium temperature of all the world, have nothing to do with local temperatures (well, not directly :p)

Anyway, IS dangerous, if excessive ..... and, well 5C is an excessive warming, if referred to the planet :p

I have one friend who thinks it's a government conspiracy and another that just plain refuses to believe that it is really happening. He also doesn't believe there is a hole in the Ozone layer. Both of these people never went to college, play PC and video games all day almost never leaving their house's, and have never read a science text or really done anything to inform them in the ways of science but watch the news. They both also are in almost a panic over 2012.

I gave up trying to talk about theses things with them years ago. The point though is that, as Hemlock_Mike pointed out, those uneducated and uninformed will believe anything that sounds true.

Another question I ask myself is why do I still hang around these two idiot's?
