Without giving too much away, recall that the might of Old Valyria was based around dragons and air power. The dragons were discovered in a region or set of volcanoes called the Fourteen Flames. Underground, other things (fire wyrms) were encountered there.

What about Winterfell and its hot springs? Winterfell is sitting on a hot spot. Hot springs are invariably due to volcanic activity of some kind, so there has to be sub-surface volcanic activity there. And apparently, where there is volcanism, there might be dragons.

Throw in the questions regarding Jon Snow's parentage, and it's another link to Valyria / Targaryen.

Hell of a coincidence, don't you think?

Hmmm don't know if I would want my wiener cut off and fried and eaten in front of me to really find out! Call me old fashioned but that's just the way I roll!

You suggesting Jon snow may be the real targaryan male heir? Not the child claiming to be aegon I believe that tyrion found in the old world? I think it'll come down to dragons vs the north ice and fire. The wall and north and the dragons are the real story the power struggle so far n the five books is basically just an epic subplot

Since jon controls the wall your idea makes perfect sense that he is targaryen cuz the north its obviously where the real story is going and that'd be a nice twist
