that reminds me of one of those tightly bound paper penicils that has just been sharpened and starts to show the layers of paper. anyways uhm perhaps a fancy kitchen knife handle?

When i said "to do with lasers" , ididnt mean our hobby , I meant in general...as in, in the workplace.

Ok final clue before i give it up, these are VERY common in supermarkets (or mall's) , combined with the previous clues, this is easy now.
