I know it's a flower of some sort and the plant looks similar to a pineapple plant. dunno what it's called though

My neighbors had some of these plants, I think. They make little peanut-shaped pods, and have pointy, palm-like leaves at the base? Some kinda desert plant, because they had it planted in a bed of rocks and pumice.

Regarding the stinky big annual flower plant thing, whoa. Just, whoa. Does the rain help wash the smell away, or does it just spread it around a bit? :eek:

It's a dfferent species. Rafflesia is a sort of parasitic plant. This one is a plant on its own. It still stinks the same though. I believe it is the same family as the titan arum.

It is not a short-arc lamp; the technology predates that. It's not an HID lamp either. If I was anymore specific I would probably give away what it is.

Probably some sort of halogen lamp then. Nothing else would need that thermal mounting and be direct mains powered.
