I think it could be a kind sort of special Infrared heater, ie, a resistance in a quartz tube, maybe, or something similar.

And concerning to the coating of which you speak, well, do not think is the classic gold coating, as this is thicker,
or it seems to me, but maybe something new and different.

It is of course an infra red heater.

dammit. I figured it emitted some kind of light. But it wasn't the visible kind.
