Yes, composed of a piezo-resistive pressure sensor and ADC interface IC, can be used in barometers, altimeters, and others

Looks like the torture box from movie "Dune".
Or a portable dark chamber to load film into a camera.

Has no relationship with films, or torture :p

It has nothing to do with photography or cinema

@ anselm... maybe a "steampunk" version of the Dune Gom Jabber Torture Box ... hehehe ... steampunk Dune

Gom jabbar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

“Stop! I hold at your neck the gom jabbar ... the high-handed enemy. It's a needle with a drop of poison on its tip ... It kills only animals.”

MY GUESS:

(and edited)

1a. Some kind of ballot box for storing votes in an election?
1b. A box for raffle tickets?
2. Is the owner's name "Pandora" by any chance? (then DON'T open it!)

Is it the black box from a pirate ship? :D

I see that you have a lot of imagination, but it is none of the things proposed :D

In that case, it is probably what is IN the box that is important... kind of not fair... no real way to guess it ...

If it HAS a clock, then probably it also contains a sextant, compass, etc., ... old set for maritime navigation.

Nothing to do with navigation or guidance tools.

Want to see inside? Ok, here you have.
