So since I've been ordering lots of components lately from moused and digikey I sometimes didn't order that much and I found the shipping price to be ridiculously high to Canada. Mouser and digikey are 8$ shipping normally but there's a way to get free shipping from digikey. It s a slow process but it works :).

STEP 1- Find all the digikey part numbers of the parts you want to order and keep note of them for later along with the prices.

STEP 2- go here and print the first page http://pdfcatalog.digikey.com/US2011/order.pdf

STEP 3- fill out the order form

STEP 4- mail the order form with cash or check and put it in the mailbox

NOTE: you have to use cash or check to get free shipping otherwise it'll cost 8.00$

This can take a while because it takes them time to get the order then process it then they ship it to you.

I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST MAIL WITH MONEY IN IT. This is just to help you out with small orders as I would never mail more then 30$ personally just to be safe.

Enjoy the free shipping! Oh and theres no minimum order and this only works for Canada and US.

I think I would rather spend the $8 and get my order sooner than wait for snail mail.
Just my opinion though:D

NEVER EVER send cash in the mail unless you want to
make a donation to the CP/USPS Sticky Fingers Fund...

Use a Postal Money order if you must send Cash..

That being said....

I'll gladly pay $8.00 shipping From Minnesota USA to
Quebec Canada since I can get the parts into my hands
as fast as 16 hours from the time I place the order...

If you purchase for $200.00 or more the shipping is also
FREE....

It is expensive to pay their fixed $8.00 shipping to Canada
on $5.00 of parts but it is cheap on $100.00 of parts.

If you're not in a hurry and can wait 3-4 weeks then you
can save $8.00...

Thanks for the tip....

Ya I only tried this once and I only sent 4.60$ to them. I would really only use it of the order total is less then 8.00$ otherwise I'd pay the 8$

Might be worth it when mouser and digikey shipping to Australia approaches nearly $45 :( But sending a mail order form to them from here would take a year or 2.

Ya it would take for ever and they also only do this for Canada and US. But if you do that you might get discounted shipping ;) but I'm not sure

Even if you ignore the speed of shipping... adding in the cost of printer access/ink/paper, envelope, stamp, and your personal time used to fill out forms will probably come to more than $8 anyway. For example, If you spend half an hour to save $2, you're working for less than minimum wage. ;)

Ya that's a good point. It really depends on what your buying how much it is etc..
I only use this for 5$ an under orders. When you are prototyping and you need to test stuff and only need a few components ten I use this as it is usually a 5 minute process for me and stamps for me to the US are 1.20$ :)
