This forum could use a Jury system

As I'm sure we all know, the spam and troll posts have become quite numerous lately. It's not fair to expect the mods to ALWAYS be on to deal with it, so what if regular members were given some tools to address the issue? Another forum I go to uses a jury style system where if a post is reported it goes to a bunch of currently active forum members who basically vote guilty/not guilty on the post. If a post receives a certain amount of 'guilty' votes then it's automatically deleted without the need for mod intervention.

Another option would be something like requiring a small 25 cent donation to post on the forum. It would be low enough that any normal person could pay it, but it would probably keep people away if they just wanna sign up to post spam garbage or troll. Getting tired of the daily "Hi everybody, read this guide on how to give a good blow job" threads.

You,re 100% right the spam has been rampant recently.

All we can do is rely on the moderators to delete the spam posts and we are lucky we have moderators that they are very good about taking care of it quickly.

Does anyone understand why people post meaningless and worthless spam posts? Why do they bother?

They're typically automated bots; they search for vBulletin forums and spam as many as they can. They're typically trying to get even a small number of people to buy whatever garbage they are selling.

No need for a Jury System.
At the bottom of each post's Avatar is a Report Button.
Hit that on any post you feel is Spamming the Forum and
the Mods will take care of it when they are logged in.

We try to do our best to keep this forum clean, neat and organized. We just can't be on it 24/7 indeed. I need at least a couple minutes away from this place

I don't get why they do it either. If it were in english that would be one thing, but some of the characters are not even letters of any language such as "raised to a power" characters. Absolute gibberish.

Plus, wouldn't that open the opportunity for a spammer to create more accounts and have legitimate posts/threads removed? The 25 cent thing would never float realistically.

I don't see the urgency of getting rid of the spam posts before the mods do anyway... regardless it'll happen in a timely manner

There are one or two people who keep creating dozens of new member names, posting once or twice to get us answering and then disappear, annoying. I'd like to see that stop.
