Sounds like you have a reading error on the camera and that you are going to have to do a factory reset. if that does not fix it your going to have to take it to a camera shop in order to get it worked on

I've run into a similar type of issue before. If the card works in other devices, the problem is probably with the formatting. Do you have PC you can plug it into? See if you get proper results that way. If yes, then it's not the card, but the camera.

The camera may only recognize one file type format (NTFS, older) while the card is probably formatted to something else, exFat, or Fat32. Try formatting the card into different formats and see if that helps.

It's been my experience that in device formatting will not help in this situation. The camera ends up just wiping the card again and again, but still can't use it. Drove me nuts with one of my tablets. Hope that's the issue you're running into as well.

This should totally be the issue. I've never had an otherwise functional card that didn't work with a good device without the actual file format being the issue.

Use the formatter I linked to, format to NTFS, try again. Doesn't work, format to eXFat, doesn't work, format to Fat32.

Still doesn't work? Try a different SD card. Doesn't work after that, contact the manufacturer/amazon get a replacement.

NTFS is generally a windows-only standard, also mostly used in hard drives rather than removable media. FAT and FAT32 have become a standard in stand-alone devices like your dash cam, but since your card is greater than 4 gigs you'll be formatting with FAT32.

Formatting does not erase files (it does digitally, but not physically) it just scrambles the file addresses so that they are no longer valid (becoming "free space") and changes the device's storage if applicable. If nothing is working for you, I'd advise you to use to use one of windows' built in programs for dealing with certain drives, such as a program called "disk management" or "disk cleanup". "Disk management" is much more useful, just be careful and make sure you're playing with the right drive, because you could screw up any other drives if you mess around with them too.

Also if you're technically inclined, you could use "diskpart" (in the MS-DOS windows cmd prompt), but that has no GUI and there's no instructions so you have to learn to use it through external means such as a youtube video or online instructable. I don't recommend using diskpart, and be careful if you choose to do something with Disk Management.

IMO diskpart is actually awesome... But I never suggest it because its a bit complicated and easy to screw up. Especially if you're on a PC with say 6-10 drives.

NTFS is a good fallback position if working from a with windows PC. My bet would be on exfat or fat32 for this if its not actually a hardware issue.
