I just (20 mins prior to writing this) had a bit of a household crisis... someone turned on the wrong hotplate, and something unknown and plastic caught fire!
Was real fun... </sarcasm>
We used the fire blanket but it didn't put it out totally, just melted the plastic into the blanket.
So, i got out the co2 (carbon dioxide) fire extinguisher which did the job. V fun though... :p
*WHOOT* dry ice, *WHOOOpmt* more dry ice
:D well that bit was fun.
point of this is...

is there anything one can do with fibreglass weave, as in the un melted half of the fire blanket?
if it was kevlar theres tonsa things you can do. but i dont know of anything fibreglass can do...
so yeah, input?

Wow, my morning hasn't been anything as near eventful. ;) I'm glad there wasn't much damage done. I don't really know what you could do with the sheet though, maybe try "Google"ing some uses for it?

Uhm - you can wrap it around the head of whomever started the mini-blaze, and prevent them from seeing the stove again ? :-/

Oh dear, TV remote might be even worse than car keys or wallet...

"Have you seen my hamster?"

Still, lucky that the plastic object was all that was destroyed.

The blanket: Try burning a small part of it. Maybe it is made out of asbestos, then there are tons of fun things to do (including taking a huge risk on your health, that is).
Try burning it with a laser. Try eating it. Well, maybe not.

HAH haa
Seriously? What's going through the mind of the person putting their wallet on a hotplate?
"Duh ::), i'll just put my wallet and keys down here on this hot plate where they won't fall on the floor..." ??? ;D

Cut it into long strips and wrap/bandage the extractors/headers on your car.  It keeps the exhaust gases hot after they leave the exhaust ports giving you more power.  If the exhaust gas cools down too quickly it slows down instead of being extracted as fast as possible.  Hot gases move faster.

It also reduces under bonnet/hood temperatures which heat up the intake gases by heating the intake manifold. You want intake gases cool and dense.
