in my old radio shack "electronics learning lab" i made a blinkey light. all it needed was a computer chip that had 8 pins, a few resistors, potentometer, and an led. it was really easy. if you've learned some basic electronics skillz from playing with lasers, its not totally impossible to make your own with stuff you can buy from radio shack.

don't ask me how i remember but this is the part you need http://www.radioshack.com/product/i...&cp=&sr=1&kw=555&origkw=555&parentPage=search

given time i can find the book that showed how to do it....
but i'm pretty sure you can find easier solutions online

With that Blinking LED you would only need to add a transistor and resistor to have
the LED stop blinking when the ignition was turned ON and start blinking when the
Ignition was turned OFF. (I've done this a few times this in the past). ;) :)

thnx 4 the links n stuff

i was messin around with some sheet metal and made a 2 inch square box, about a half inch tall... then i made a battery holder (somehow) for a cr123 found a few old LEDs n i got a switch from something else and ta da... a non-blinking fake car alarm light.

i went to radio shack a earlier n i asked the dude workin there where the LEDs were, he found me a red one n told me that they had the ones that had the part that made em blink built in but there were out... then when i asked em if he had any more normal red LEDs he accidently got me the green ones... i asked em if the green ones were blinking ones, he said no so he put em back n right next to where the green ones were... there were the red blinking ones... so i got 3 red blinking LEDs for a couple fake car alarms got everything built into a lil sheet metal box, so now i have my fake car alarm

(and my fingers are tired from typing all of that...lol) might be able to get a picture of it n put it on here

thnx again for the links

sorry to hear that happened. My car got broken into even with a blinking led...along with an alarm and horn blaring in front of my house at 1 am. by the time I woke up and went outside the tweeker broke literally ripped the stereo out of my dash! I would have loved to see how they did it so fast, less then 1 min for sure! And my alarm has the starter kill on it so they wouldn't have been able to hot wire it if they wanted to steel it. I got it installed at a place around the corner for $160 and its worth every penny. I say don't waste your time with the fake warning, because if they really want to steel your shit they will anyway, even if its a full blown alarm.

P.S. you should be able to get a decoy at your nearest auto store, or you could find something comparable at a gas station that could be modded for your purpose, but like I said, I think it's a waste.

you gotta make sure your radio is bolted in, not just slid in the slot where it goes, then strip out the screw/bolts so they can't be taken out lol

if you need to take it out later, you'll find a way

I know you're not talking to me. :p

I've installed SEVERAL head units and never have I just "slid in the slot". Luckly, it was just a cheap radio that was beat up reall good so I didn't care, I was more mad about my broken window. I got it fixed and it still doesn't roll up or down right. :( Depending on the car, not all head units can be bolted in. (I know, I know, never say never, but typically unless you modify your own set up) So mine used the sleeve that needs a special key to uninstall, so the person probably had the correct tools for the job. My mistake was that I left the face on. Now I take it off every freaken time I get out of the car! ;D

i tried out my new version with the blinking LED n when i went out to the car cuz i was goin to school i looked in our van n the red LED was still flashing with the lil green LED night next to it... so i guess the battery'll last long enough

we've had someone try to steal our one van... but our neighbor caught em when they got back from work really early in the morning... then our other van got stolen and totalled... cuzins car got broken into just for a freakin jacket... n then the truck... if i c anyone around and car lookin in it im gunna go out their n beat their face into the curb... im only 15 but i know i can do some damage to someone...lol

im in ohio... kinda southern part... dayton actually... somewhat ghetto... some good parts some ok parts n some bad parts where someone gets shot stabbed killed or someones found a body... one of those each night :-/ .... once i saw 2 dudes walkin down the street with a wheelbarrel... with a WHOLE air conditioner unit on it... like the ones you have sittin bside ur house... not the lil window ones

...o well... doin all i can so i wont be paranoid...

my sony radio came with a sleeve and a "tool" to remove it, i'm not sure how dependable that is though. i'm glad my car had two metal brackets the radio bolted to that you bolt into the large hole in the dash (lower half of the hole is a tray to put crap in) then a trim goes around it. so if you pull the trim off you gotta get through two very stripped screws haha.

whenever i work closing i pull the little computer chip from my car. i'm not really sure how easy it is to get around but it makes it so the motor wont even turn over with a key.

in replacing my car's internal air fan because of a damn mouse, i found the engine cpu and it got me thinking of installing a hidden switch off a wire that makes the motor work...
great now i'm being paranoid haha
