North Carolina Schools May Cut Chunk Out of U.S. History Lessons - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News - FOXNews.com

"Under the proposed change, the ninth-graders would take a course called global studies, focusing in part on issues such as the environment. The 10th grade still would study civics and economics, but 11th-graders would take U.S. history only from 1877 onward."

Riiiiight..

Who cares about what happened before 1877... its all about the environment. WTF kinda crap is that?

EPIC FAIL IMHO

Maybe that's how they'll get their ObamaMoney! ObamaMoney! ObamaMoney! ObamaMoney! Where's my ObamaMoney!

Quickest way to insure the next generation is more stupid than the latest is to cut education. And what better reason? Money, and the gubmint sez the environment is impotunt.

At our school the levels offered for US History are Standard, Honors and Advanced Placement. In standard and honors (which is a vast majority of the school) you only learn about US Hisory from Reconstruction (post civil war, around 1877) onward.

Who cares? Half the history is condensed versions, the other half is BS. Like the war of 1812, which we lost. And if that's what it takes to get government money into schools then I'm all for it. The first thing Repubs do is cut education, the police, and firemen. Keep em stupid, afraid, and defenseless. Its a good way to control the masses. If something is going to get more money into those areas, then we should be behind it.

Can you spell KARMA?

A man carrying a gun was running away from El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies when he was hit by a car just as he turned to point the gun at the officers behind him, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

It happened at about 1:30 p.m. Monday near the Super 8 Motel at Peterson Road and Highway 24. A Sheriff’s Deputy became suspicious about a vehicle parked at the motel that hadn’t been there earlier. He called in the license number and discovered it was a car that had been reported stolen from Manitou Springs.

The deputy called for backup, and they were able to confirm the cars belonging to every occupant at the motel except for one. They knocked on the door of that room, but no one answered. A deputy outside of the motel saw a man with a gun jump out the back window of that room.

The man has been identified as George Garnhart. At that time, the Sheriff’s Office says that the deputies began chasing Garnhart on foot. They ordered him to stop, but say he did not.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says that Garnhart headed toward Peterson Road. He then stopped when he was on the road, turned around and started to lower his gun at deputies, who say Garnhart looked as though he was about to take a shot at them.

At that moment, a Jeep Cherokee headed north-bound at about 30 miles per hour hit Garnhart. He was thrown up on the hood of the car, and when the driver slammed on the brakes, Garnhart was thrown 20 feet from the car.

Garnhart was taken to Memorial Hospital with non-serious injuries, and is expected to be released shortly. At that time he will be booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center, and the Sheriff’s Office says he will likely face charges of attempted assault on a peace officer and motor vehicle theft. In addition, Garnhart already has several warrants out for his arrest.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Bureau Chief Joe Breister says the incident is both good and bad. “Unfortunately for him, he was hit by a vehicle. Fortunately for deputies, had that vehicle not hit him it would have resulted in a shooting because our officers were ready to return fire had he fully turned and lowered the gun at them.”

Peace,
dave

This was a real error I got about 3 years ago while playing Battlefield 2142.
I still laugh when I see this.

The Sensitive Man

A woman meets a man in a bar.

They talk; they connect; they end
up leaving together.

They get back to his place,

and as he shows her around his
apartment,
she notices that one wall of his
bedroom is
completely filled with soft, sweet,
cuddly teddy bears.

There are three shelves in the
bedroom,
with hundreds and hundreds of cute,
cuddly teddy bears carefully placed
in rows, covering the entire wall!

It was obvious that he had taken
quite some time to lovingly arrange them

and she was immediately touched

by the amount of thought he had
put into organizing the display.

There were small bears all along
the bottom shelf,

medium-sized bears covering the
length of the middle shelf,

and huge, enormous bears running
all the way along the top shelf.

She found it strange for an
obviously masculine guy

to have such a large collection of
Teddy Bears,

She is quite impressed by his
sensitive side,
but doesn't mention this to him.

They share a bottle of wine and
continue talking and,

after awhile, she finds herself
thinking,

'Oh my God! Maybe, this guy
could be the one!

Maybe he could be the future
father of my children?'

She turns to him and kisses him
lightly on the lips

He responds warmly.

They continue to kiss, the passion builds,

and he romantically lifts her in
his arms and carries her into his bedroom

where they rip off each other's
clothes and make hot, steamy love.

She is so overwhelmed that she
responds with more passion,

more creativity, more heat than she
has ever known.

After an intense, explosive night
of raw passion with this sensitive guy,

they are lying there together in
the afterglow.
The woman rolls over, gently
strokes his chest and asks coyly,

'Well,how was it?'

The guy gently smiles at her,

strokes her cheek,

looks deeply into her eyes,

and says:

'Help yourself to any prize

from the middle shelf'

My local thrift shop fail.

Just bought this 1940's Black Forest Owl, and Fox Cuckoo clock for $10. I tried not to shake too hard when I handed her the money.
